The Sugar and Coffee Scrub

The Awesome sugar and Coffee Scrub

The Awesome sugar and Coffee Scrub

I know I have not posted any DIY recipes for a while now. This awesome body scrub recipe helps clear away all the dead skin with regular use. The weekends is when I love to indulge in some me time because the better half is at home and he takes care of the twin boys for me. Weekends also means it’s time for a leisurely bath or shower where I can get to pamper myself with the soaks and scrubs. My hunt for making different scrubs made me create this one. There are variations of this available on the net, but this is what I use for the scrub and it lasts one use. Increase the quantity of the ingredients accordingly if you want to make more. I prefer making fresh scrubs.

5Alright, where was I? The ingredients, yes!

Take one tablespoon of  filter coffee ( I cheat here and use the ready made coffee, Davidoff something) and mix it well with a tablespoon each of brown and white sugar. Add roughly half an inch of cinnamon to this. As a variation you can add cloves, cardamom and almonds. In this one I have added 3 cloves and one cardamom.

Put this is in a mixer and make a powder. Add about half a teaspoon on brown sugar to this and one generous scoop of aloevera gel. I have the aloe plant at home so I squeeze out the juice from the leaves. It takes time, but nothing beats fresh aloe juice.  Add to this either olive or sesame oil. Add just a bit because it is a powder and the oil will tend to mix quickly with it. Too much will require you to use a shower gel which I would not recommend with this scrub.

For this quantity mentioned I use roughly 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Wet your body and apply all over. Massage and leave on for about 5 minutes. Wash with as hot water as your can bear. Ideally you should not need to use a shower gel or soap, but in case your skin feels oily, do use a mild shower gel preferably that is free of SLS and parabens to wash off the oil. You should get the hang of making this scrub  once you make make this more often.

Add if you need a variation, add a drop of your favorite EO and you have a fragrant body scrub!

The brown gives it a lovely colour 🙂 You should not use this on the face! Please note that. It will just get rid of the dead skin making your skin feel softer and smoother
