Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil – The Body Shop

Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil

For me there is nothing as relaxing as a head massage. Since I have short hair, I have the added advantage that I can indulge in a hair massage as often as I want. Its an added advantage of you can have someone give you the massage!

This sample was a part of the JanuaryVellvette box. I got three sachets of this oil and the sample was good enough to convince me that I could  buy it.

What I love about this oil is that you can let it soak overnight ( recommended in the winters) and use it as a pre-wash treatment too. Just leave it on for about an hour or two before you shampoo your hair. The oil is not very greasy and trust me you need really little oil for the massage. This bottle is likely to last me at least 8 months despite the 3 – 4 weekly hair oil massages I indulge in.

What  I have certainly noticed post the usage of this oil is that it leaves my hair absolutely nourished, soft and manageable.  If I leave this oil overnight, I don’t necessarily need to follow up the hair wash with a conditioner. The oil is colorless  easily absorbent and has a very faint coconut fragrance to it. Since it is non greasy,  you don’t need to worry about it staining the pillow covers.

Price, Shelf Life and Availability

This 200 ml bottle is priced at Rs. 645 for a 200 ml bottle. One store I visited had an introductory offer of a certain amount of gift voucher with every purchase of this hair oil. I don’t recall the denomination of the voucher though. I used the Rs 50 off voucher and picked it up from the Vellvette Store. You can also buy it from any of the TBS outlets or order it online.

Will I recommend and repurchase?

Recommend yes. For all hair types. yes, I know the price is on the higher side, but you can’t expect TBS to be cheaper! That aside, I picked this up specifically because it is paraben free and colurant free. Repurchase is something I will park for the moment because if I do not get  to find another good oil, I’ll probably repurchase this one!  But my next hair oil in all probabilities may be this one.

But if you are looking for something that will nourish your hair and leave it soft and manageable and the price is not an issue, go ahead and buy this one! You won’t regret the purchase!

Ingredients

Community Fair Trade Coconut Oil, Organic Amazonian Pracaxi Oil. Plus what delights me is that it is Paraben Free & Colourant Free.

My tip: Since I have short hair, the pixie cut to be precise, I am advised to use hair wax and hair gels to set and style my hair the right way. And since I am not a fan of such products, what I do is take about 3 drops of oil and massage it into my just about to dry hair post a shampoo and style it the way I want to. Not only does it leave my hair styled, but it also leaves it nourished all day long.
