April marks the epic #BlogChatterA2Z where you write 26 posts for the 26 letters in the alphabets. Those who plan start a good two months early and have everything scheduled and then there are others who resemble the headless chicken scrambling to find their heads. A relatively less exhausting but completely rewarding task is the one that rolls out is the My Friend Alexa campaign. More details at the end of the post, but let me start with reasons to participate in the My Friend Alexa campaign.

There are many reasons to participate in the My Friend Alexa campaign in collaboration with Blogchatter. And there are also many benefits that you get while you are participating in the campaign. If you are convinced, I hope you see you in the challenge!
What is the My Friend Alexa challenge?
The very basic premise of the My Friend Alexa Challenge is to improve your Alexa rank and this campaign is hosted by Blogchatter. This is the sixth year that Blogchatter has opened its doors for participation in this challenge. My Friend Alexa helps to improve your blog stats, visibility and makes you seen as a blogger. Reason 1# – You improve your blog stats
Blogging is more than a fancy logo and beautiful pictures. Let’s admit that we all fret over the stats of the blog sometimes. And a good blog is determined by its Alexa ranking. It is also important to look up the trending keywords and use those in your blog posts when you write an article. The health of your website is measured by stats and ranks. Some of the most often missed parameters that takes away the limelight if you are not working on them are SEO, Visibility, DA (Domain Authority) and Alexa Rating. Alexa has a Global Rank and an India specific rank. The lower your rank, the better it is. So aim at keeping those numbers low.
Reason 2# – You discover new bloggers
The reason why Blogchatter is an awesome blogging community is because its a giant hole to discover new bloggers and connect with them through these campaigns. Whether it is the My Friend Alexa, the #HalfMarathons or the #BlogChatterA2Z, every single campaign makes you discover new bloggers and genres. I have had the opportunity to discover some stellar bloggers and genres in this campaign. More often that not, it also gives me ideas for self-improvement and what I can do to better my blog. And when you discover new blogs, writers and more, your thinking is elevated. You are able to think out of the box
Reason 3# – You get to be seen
You get visibility. This is one of the most valuable lessons I learned from participating in these campaigns. And the more visibility you get, it is better for your blog ranking. The premise of these campaigns is simple. Get discovered and discover new genres and bloggers. When your post is shared in various mediums, your potential to get discovered in higher. Go on Twitter and search with My Friend Alexa. The tag is used universally when people participate in the campaign. And this is a popular hashtag. So when people search for this, there are high chances of your posts showing up and you getting noticed.
Reason 4# – You write frequently and regularly
One of the good things about participating in these several challenges is that you write frequently and begin to have a content calendar for your blog. Whether it is a new post or creating a listicle or even repurposing your old content; there are many ways to write that new post not just during the campaigns, but also during other times. The trick I have learned is not to let anything overwhelm you. The minute overwhelm kicks in; your enthusiasm drops to a zero and it becomes a task. It certainly helps if you plan ahead of time and get your thoughts jotted in a paper or even just saving posts as drafts with the title and what you want to write on helps in many ways to get you started.
Reason 5# – You improve your blog ranking
If you have been struggling with questions like this:
- Why am I not getting traffic on my blog?
- Why isn’t anyone engaging with my posts?
- How do I improve the visibility of my blog?
- What can I do to be seen?
and more like this, then you have to participate in the challenge. Being a part of the challenge involves you and other bloggers to closely interact, read and share the pots on various mediums, As a blogger, you can share your own posts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more to drive your traffic regardless of the fact that you are participating in a competition or not. When you choose to be seen, your visibility increases. My Friend Alexa is one of the opportunities for you to better your Alexa ranking and traffic because of the constant engagement that will happen in the month.
This is going to be my third year participating in the My Friend Alexa campaign and I am looking forward to it. If you want to participate in this season and take your blog to the next level, sign up now. These were some of my reasons to participate in the My Friend Alexa campaign. Also keep in mind that the more you participate in the campaign, the more chances you have to get noticed. So gear up for a month long of reading and sharing posts and participating in the campaign.
