I love monsoons, the lashing rains, a sleepy weather and endless cups of coffee in this weather is quite a blessing. Of course, it also gets along a new set of problems – skin issues. The humidity levels are on the rise and you tend to sweat. The sweat and the oil secretions can make your skin and hair look really dull. Each skin type will have its own set of issues. The first thing you need to do is identify your skin type and take action accordingly. Since I am also not the type who likes to step into a beauty salon, I resort to making my own natural face masks at home. I am sharing 3 natural face masks that are ideal for the monsoon.
3 easy to make natural face masks for monsoon
Fresh Banana Fruit Mask
Bananas are available all year round and this mask is suitable for those with an oily skin. What this mask does is it helps to unclog the pores and remove the dead skin. It leaves your skin glowing and nourished.
What you need
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tsp honey
- Juice of half a lime
- Peppermint Essential oil – 1 drop
Mash the banana with the back of a fork and add the honey, lemon juice and one drop of the essential oil. Mix well and apply on the face and neck and let it stay for at least 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. If you want to exfoliate your skin with this mask add half a teaspoon of brown sugar and scrub your face lightly in circular motions before you wash off the mask.
Sandalwood and Lentils Face Mask
Lentils in this face mask will act as a natural scrub, while sandalwood is nourishing for your skin. Sandalwood has calming properties that also helps soothe your skin and it keeps itching at bay. This mask will suit all skin types.
What you need
- Half a teaspoon of powdered masoor dal (split red lentils)
- 2 teaspoon of fresh sandalwood paste or 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder
- 1 tsp of honey
- Rose water
Mix all the ingredients together to make a paste. you can add more rose water to make it a thinner paste and less of it to make it a thick pack. Mix well and apply on the face and neck and let it stay for at least 15 minutes. Wash off with cold water. If you want a face pack that has all these ingredients opt for the Omved All Skin type Ubtan which can suit any skin type.
Papaya, Sugar and Oats Scrub
Oats and sugar act as a mild scrub while the papaya helps to rejuvenate the tired skin. Papaya is a seasonal fruit and since it is rich in antioxidants, it can help to add the extra glow to your skin.
What you need
- One big slice of papaya without the skin
- Half a teaspoon of brown sugar
- One teaspoon of oats
Mix all the ingredients together in a blender to make a paste. Apply on the face and neck and let it stay for at least 15 minutes. Scrub your face lightly in circular motions before you wash off the mask and use cold water as a final rinse. You can also add a little honey to this mask for extra nourishment.
It is unavoidable to escape the humid weather in this season but it is also equally important that you maintain a healthy glowing skin at the same time.
