“I can’t believe that I endured you
For as long as I did
I’m happy, it’s over!”
Yes, the lyrics from a popular song by The Corrs pretty much sums my experience with Vellvette. I fell for the trap and subscribed for 3 months and an optimism that luck would favour me and I would get something nice lured me into another 3 month subscription. Sense finally prevailed and I decided to stay away from it.
Yes I know it is that time of the month where all that you see is posts ranging from ” Look what I got in my Vellvette Box” , “I wish I got that” , “Your box is better than mine”, and etc etc. 6 months is a long time to be optimistic. But as an eager beaver, I filled in the questionnaire and waited for the box to reach me with the hope that it will be something I love!
The much hyped 2012 year did not end and I got my first Vellvette box in December. To be able to use 3 products out of 4 was good. The clarins was dumped. The first box was awesome till now. Move to January, two organic products! You made me happy even though I make a better chocolate body scrub. The nail polish went into the gifting box.
Then came February. Excuse me, but a blush? I don’t quite care if costs 1.6K, I clearly stated in my questionnaire that I do not use make up and you still send it to me? No apology either, instead I was made to just fill the questionnaire again. The Ofra whatever lotion was something like a toner that you applied on your face and then wiped it off with a damp cotton. I am sorry, but again this was the first time I was introduced to a lotion that you actually need to wipe off. The redeemer of the box was the lip balm that unfortunately melted one hot summer day only to make my purse messy. Interestingly the blush and the balm was a fixture for all the boxes that month.
Three months gone and well, I thought that I should not really judge them by one mistake, so I went ahead and subscribed for another 3 months. That was one of the stupidest things I have done in my life ( of course! I have done worse things, but somehow this one needs to be added to the list!).
March came and I saw yet another makeup item in the box, wrote to Vellvette and they came with a standard reply which I translated to ” how hard they try to suit the requirements, but if that does not happen they just give whatever is there types.” Sorry Vellvette, but I think you really need to be better with your responses. This gave me the “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” feeling. And to add to it was a fishy drink that was sent without checking if I would want it. I am not quite sure here why I was made to fill the questionnaire again if they had to still send me something that they fancied.
April was a disaster. I received only two samples out of which one was damaged. A mail was sent and a response was sent a week later, post a call from them saying that it would be replaced. And yes, another make up item which was fortunately damaged so I just threw it in the bin. May came and I have to admit that whoever coined the term, save the best for last was quite right. An organic box was the perfect way to bid adieu to the 6 month Vellvette journey. Never mind the fact that they sent yet another damaged product in the box, because by now I am tired with their attitude and responses! I am just glad that I am not subscribing to them anymore!
My take
If I fill in a questionnaire, I am doing so because I want to tell you what my preferences are. I am taking out time to do so and I am paying you to get the box. You are not doing me a favour and sending something free. Just a suggestion that you may to incorporate for future customers!
If you can’t fulfil what the questionnaire states, then maybe you should have two options:
Call me and let me know of the same. And maybe give me an option to skip the box and have my subscription extended by another month because I chose not to get it.
OR
Tell me that you don’t have what I want, but that you are giving out some other interesting stuff. Would I like to try it instead and give me the options. I know it would lessen the suspense, but at least I would have liked to use what was sent. And most importantly, if you do that, you probably won’t have an irate or an upset customer.

This sums up my experiences as well. All the hype seems to hint at full-size Chanel. And one gets powders in little jars. When one pays for it, one must be at least given products as per the questionnaire. And, of course, have emails promptly replied to. I’m rather scared to even comment about Vellvette boxes anymore after practically having a bounty put on my head for reviewing this month’s box the way I saw it on my blog.

🙂 🙂 Just ignore them! Not even worth giving a thought. I posted two solutions that Vellvette may want to consider, which is of course applicable only if they have actually taken the time to read what people have filled in. I find it pointless to let someone know what I want when they don’t want to listen and that is exactly what happened with Vellvette.
As I said there are hundreds out there loving their service and taking in everything that is sent to them without a complaint, so one or even a dozen unhappy customers won’t make a difference. Maybe they are secretly happy that there won’t be any negative reviews 🙂

Good one! Do hope more honest reviews are posted. Don’t think their products are bad per se but service definitely sucks.

Of course the service sucks. The products are good, but let me put it this way, despite filling the questionnaire, I got things that I specifically had not asked for which was a let down 🙁

I have seen every other blogger raving about their products and was about to subscribe for it. Guess I have to reconsider after your review.

I guess they have some awesome products for people who love makeup. I, for one had categorically stated that I would not want makeup samples in my box and they sent makeup samples. I was miffed at that, I had to spend time to fill a questionnaire twice and they end up sending what they wanted. And their customer service isn’t that great. At the end of the day, makeup stuff is what you love, go ahead and order it I would say just for the experience. That was my personal experience. I wasn’t happy, but then for one unhappy customer, they probably have 500 happy ones! So they choose to ignore 🙂
