With Diwali round the corner, its time to get the gifts ready! To be precise, its time to get the list of eco-friendly gifts for Diwali ready. I have seem beautiful crafting posts doing the rounds that do make an excellent gifting option, but for those (read people like me) who are a tad artistically challenged, the best option is to choose eco-friendly gifts for Diwali!
So, there I was hunting the websites for some eco-friendly gifts for Diwali and came across these products that have made its way in the must-buy list (some for me, some for friends).
Eco-friendly gifts for Diwali
The reason why I prefer to choose eco-friendly gifts for Diwali is because they are good for us and the earth. Choosing eco-friendly gifts is not only possible, it’s affordable. Plus when you choose an eco-friendly gift you ensure that you are not contributing to the land-fill. It is a myth that eco-friendly gifts are expensive, on the contrary, they are not.
The reason why we choose to opt for hand-made eco-friendly gifts is because we do want to be gentler on the earth. While the thought is beautiful, it is also important to keep in mind that you choose a gift that your recipient will love and use. Giving from a place of generosity and care will accomplish both. You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. - Kahlil Gibran Click To Tweet
Here is my list of some fabulous eco-friendly gifts for Diwali that you’ll love to give!
Just some hampers
There is so much that you can do with skin and hair care hampers! This, to date remains one of my very favourite options. All you need to do is pick an assortment of soaps, shampoos, creams, scrubs and everything that comes under this category and make a hamper. I secretly wish that I would be pampered with such hampers too! So much for wishful thinking! There is so much that you can gift when you make hampers! I shop from my favourite stores and then gift wrap products in cane baskets or newspaper shopping bags to hand them over to friends and family.
Look out for brands that follow the full ingredients policy disclosure and use the best natural and organic ingredients in their products. Some of the brands that I recommend are Juicy Chemistry, Forest Essentials, Mama Earth, Omved, Soultree & Burst Of Happyness.
Knicks & Knacks
You know what I love? Those quaint tin boxes to hold memorabilia or those fancy hand made key chain, torans and chimes that catch your eye! These are gifts that will undoubtedly something that will last beyond the festivities and also make a wonderful keepsake. Then you also have those cups, coasters and lamps that add that touch of elegance to your living spaces. Each of these products are so vibrant and beautiful that you surely will end up picking some for yourself too!
Did you say DIY?
I am a DIY person, when ideas fail, I resort to making something on my own and gifting it. You can check the entire DIY section of my blog and come up with inexpensive, yet fantastic gifts that you can make for your loved ones. Trust me all that you need are a couple of ingredients from your kitchen, an empty jar and a ribbon! And you are done! Oh and you can add some jams, pickles, cakes and potted plants to this list too!
My quest for cosmetics ends at kajals and lipsticks. Yes, I do know that there is not much of a variety in this, but Soultree has some awesome lipsticks and kohl’s that you should give a try. SoulTree kajals are handmade carbon black collected from vegetable oil lamps and combined with organic ghee (clarified butter), natural mineral colours and organic almond oil. Even the lipsticks are available in a range of vibrant colours that will pep your mood.
You can buy these from Amazon India.
And don’t forget to buy some awesome cloth or jute bags that can hold your lovely eco-friendly gifts for Diwali. Cloth and jute bags may be expensive but they are pretty much reusable and more efficient in comparison to the plastic wraps and packets you get. For one, when you discard these bags, the jute and cotton bags won’t cause a landfill.
Wishing all you of you a season of happiness, love and joy. Let the good in you always suppress the evil. What are you going to pamper yourself with this festive season? Have you made YOUR list of eco-friendly gifts for Diwali that you would like to indulge in?
