Baby Skincare Routine Tips For New Parents
There are a zillion baby products out there in the market. How do you know which one is the best for your little one? Research states that close to 60% of what you apply your skin is absorbed by it, so if you took the plunge to choose chemical-laden products, you don’t even want to imagine what the side-effects would be. With an abundance of baby care products available online and in-store, take time out to research for the products you choose for them.
Since your baby has tender skin, opt for the chemical-free and natural alternatives available in the market. Not ony will these products nourish their skin, but also keep it soft and supple. And you can shop for these products from the comfort of your home!
Let’s look at a basic regime that can get you started, shall we?
Daily Baby Body Massage
I have twins, so massaging was not just exhausting but also a fun way to connect with them! I would love them squiggling and trying to get away when I would massage them! Little babies love massages. A daily body massage helps them to relax their tired hands and feet! A massage can be followed in the AM and PM routine, but when you follow it in the mornings, massage your little one before you bathe them and ensure that the oil soaks in for at least an hour before you take them for their bath.
Some of the added benefits of a massage are promoting relaxation It relaxes their tired limbs and arms from playful movement all day. It helps to calm their active senses and sleep better.

Have a bath regime
Opt for a gentle cleansing wash or a baby bath powder (also known as ubtan) to cleanse the baby. When you use a chemical-free alternative, you are ensuring that the bathing doesn’t sap away the natural body oils. Gentle cleansers also help to reduce any skin irritations and inflammations that can be caused by chemical laden variants. Always bathe them in luke warm water because their skin is really tender. Keep your baby’s skin hydrated by bathing them in warm water for only 3 to 5 minutes. Avoid letting your baby sit or play or soak for long in soapy water.

Keep their skin hydrated
No matter what the season is, you need to use a gentle moisturizer post a bath to keep their skin hydrated. In winters, you can also opt for a body butter that can keep the skin hydrated for a longer time. But, ensure that you reapply the moisturizer if you find your little one’s skin is turning dry. Natural moisturizers help to keep their skin protected, hydrated and soft and supple. It is recommended that you opt for products that provide long lasting hydration because your baby’s tender skin needs it.

Change the diapers at least once in 2-3 hours
If your baby has red skin around the diaper area, you’re dealing with diaper rash. Most happen because of skin irritation due to:
- Diapers that are too tight
- Wet diapers left on for too long
- A particular brand of detergent, diapers, or baby wipes
Opt for cloth diapers if you can, here is a reference post on cloth diapers that I have written on my blog earlier.
Other option are using diaper diapers that can help soothe the rashes.
