Oprah Winfrey wrote about this and so did other awesome women who wanted to encapsulate certain memories. I read this version of the post that was written by a fellow blogger Shilpa Garg on her blog. And as I was reading this, I knew I wanted to write about it too. Update: Click here to read what another amazing blogger Vidya has written too!
So here it is, the list of 11 things every woman should write down before the year ends! I don’t like the tagging business, so if you do love it, go ahead and write this down and just do me a teeny favour, leave a link will you? So that I can read your post?
1. What Younger You Would Like About Present You
When I was younger, I loved to write. The fact that I majored in print media was the proof that I wanted a career in the newspaper. 3 years later, the lure of money made me forget what I wanted to really do and lived a good 12 years in corporate life earning a good salary but absolutely unhappy about what I was actually doing. My life changed when I was expecting twins and bid adieu to the corporate world. I got back to writing when I used to jot down small things that the boys did. And before I realised it, I knew I had found my option to work from home. Then came the blog, followed by an income and doing what I loved…WRITE!
2. The Watched/Read It List
I prefer the read it list rather than listing Dhoom 3 and Himmatwala :P, movies that I could have NOT watched! I read the Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield, which is a life changer. Currently reading 73 Lessons Every Goddess Must Know by Leonie Dawson. I am amazed at the amount of things that one can learn from these books. And also working on the biz and life worksheets!
3. The Mistake You Never Want to Make
Not living in the moment! 2013 in retrospect was also one of the hardest, where I struggled to find a balance between home and work, I faltered and failed in some moments. I don’t think I gave as much time as I would have loved to the boys. I never ever want to repeat that mistake and just be there. I want to be with them, enjoying the moment, soaking in their happiness and always around to give them that cuddle, kiss and a hug!
4. Your Ideal Outfit
Till about a month and a half ago, mostly comfortable tracks and tees since I am working out of home. But since the last few weeks, I am actually making an effort to wear nice clothes!
5. A Deep, Dark—Shhh—Secret
My imagination runs wild! One incident can trigger multiple possibilities and I have these dozen stories running in my mind about what can be the possible outcome. Out of the dozen stories, only one is likely to have the positive outcome 🙂
6. The Most Unexpected Compliment You Ever Got
My boys never fail to cheer me up. If you read list no 4, you will know that I am a PJ and tees person. When I started dressing *well* from the past month and a half, I did not notice the twins actually seeing the difference, till one day the boys came and asked me if I was going to office. When I said no, pat came the question if we were going out shopping or to a restaurant. When I said no again the younger one looked at me and said, “But you are dressed so nicely!” and the older one said ” Mamma, but you are looking so beautiful.” My heart just melted. I hugged them and thanked them. When I feel down, I remember that the boys know I am beautiful and it totally cheers me up!
7. That One Quote
Dream Big. No dream is unachievable.
8. The Best Surprise You’ve Ever Had
Discovering that I expecting twins!
9. Your True Happiness
- That me time, when I am writing a postor filling my diary with the dreams I have to achieve.
- Watching that awesome sunrise and soaking in the energy of the first sun rays as it touches me
- Being with the boys (all of em’)
10. Your Favorite Failure
- Was the ability to convince myself that I was absolutely incapable of doing anything.
- Was the ability to feel worthless.
- Was the ability to be sure that all I did was not right.
- Was believing that my passion cannot be my business.
11. An Amendment to the Bucket List
Lots! The changes in the bucket list look awesome, right from setting a target of achieving personal and professional goals, to working towards seeking inner peace… the list has grown! I have learned to Dream Big, thanks to some fab mompreneurs and women entrepreneurs out there!
Done with listing the 11 things! Re-listing them makes me affirm what I am setting out to achieve is for the best! Fills me with lots of positive and renewed energy.

Lovely to read your post, Pratibha! 🙂 Thanks to Corinne who showed it to me!
No.3 is something we all need a shake-up on, every once in a while, Pratibha. The important thing is awareness so we can pull ourselves up in time.
I love all your answers but specially 1 and 7.
Pratibha says
Thanks! Just realised that you wrote it too, linked you too! I know No 3 was the hardest to write and acknowledge that I botched up. I was worried about what other moms would think about me, but that was my mistake and I had to accept it. I feel lighter now that it is out of my system. And we share 1 🙂
Vidya Sury says
So lovely, no? Hugs! Thanks!
Pratibha says

Veens @ Our Ordinary Life says
No one wants to talk about the hard stuff these days and showing a “perfect” look is what matters nowadays – but talking about it, lightens up and makes us more aware of our struggles! I am glad you shared your struggles, because I have gone through them, or better am going through them now. Everything is going to be fine for me too lol! And taking time to change into something nice – and actually getting that compliment – makes you happy like nothing else!
You go girl, nothing is stopping you now, you can rock the world 🙂 Happy New year!!
Pratibha says
Oh yes, write down all that is bothering you and it certainly makes you feel lighter! It is a wonderful exercise that one must follow!

Nicely written post…….life is about yourself and we girls always tend to focus more on our family than ourself. We must learn to appreciate our life.
