There was a time when spending time on social media translated into wasting time, but we all know that’s not true anymore! Customers use social media as a reliable source of information regarding products and services. As for marketers, social media is where they can put up information about their latest launches and offers, besides receiving first hand feedback from customers. In a nutshell, social media is a big deal, which is why everyone’s spending so much time on it! However, there is one way to save time and effort in this area – by finding ways to repurpose social media content!
6 Ways to Repurpose Social Media Content
1. Share it across different platforms
If you’ve got a Facebook post that did very well, consider modifying it for some cross platform sharing. It might feel tempting to copy paste the post as is, but a little effort on customizing it to the target platform can make a huge difference in performance. Good quality images will work well on Instagram and Pinterest, while facts, quotes and witty remarks go well on Twitter.
2. Post the same content in a new vein
An old post can be made new for a number of reasons. If you have a viral post on caring for preterm babies, and it’s World Prematurity Week, it might be the perfect opportunity to bring it out. Or if you have a Star Wars post that did very well, the upcoming release of the latest Star Wars movie is the time to let it shine again. Just change up the text a little to make it more relevant.
3. Change the time and audience
With options to specify your target audience available now, you can dust up that old viral post and send it out to a slightly different target demographic. This helps to expand your reach a little more, and get in more followers who have been on the fringe of your existing target audience. Changing up the time of the old post can also draw some fresh traffic to it.
4. Include user comments
We’ve all come across some posts where the comments have been just as good as the original post! If you have one like that, make a snapshot of the post with the featured comments and repost it. It’s sure to do just as well or even better than the first time you posted it!
5. Make infographics
Got a text heavy post or a how-to post that got good reach? Then turn it into an infographic for Pinterest! An infographic is 30 times more likely to be read than an only-text post, so turning your quality content into a good looking infographic will do wonders for your reach.
6. Write a blog post
We’ve often heard of repurposing blog posts into social media, but not the other way around! If you’ve had a descriptive FB live video that got good views, do a detailed write up about it. If there’s been a Facebook post where you’ve answered many reader queries, compiling everything into a blog post is a good idea.
With these ways to repurpose social media content, you can make good use of your existing content and expand your reach further. Reworking the old posts to make them relevant will involve much less effort than if you were going to make brand new posts! Stay tuned on our next post about repurposing your viral blog posts in different ways!
