I love fragrances. I find it calming. All through the day, I ensure that I have either incense sticks, cones, candles or a diffuser burning in a corner of my home. I have been more inclined to the diffusers because I find them cleaner and hassle free. You don’t need to clear up the soot and the ashes in the diffusers. I have a couple of my very favourite essential oils that I use for my diffusers. Let me introduce those to you!
I have a varied collection of essential oils that I use for my diffuser. I have a different set of oils that I use for the morning and nights. My mornings need to energetic because I have a lot to pack in the day! Right from getting the boys waking up to sending them off to school to getting my work in place, it gets tiring. So I need something to pep me up.
Soulflower – Energy and Meditation oils are what I use in the mornings to get that burst of energy and to get me going for the rest of the day. These are very light fragrances and they really do make me feel nice and rejuvenated. It gets me all ready to tackle the rest of the day!
Towards the evenings I shift to milder fragrances like Omved Mashaka that also doubles up as an insect repellent. If you have the problems of bugs and mosquitoes, I would say give this one a try. It is perfectly safe to use around kids too. Towards the night, I use the Omved Mom and Baby Caress in my bedroom at least thrice a week. This really works wonders in calming those tired nerves and helping you sleep well. Sadly, this product has now been discontinued by Omved.
Omved Soy Candles
I also love the Omved range of Soy Candles. They come packaged in tins that can be washed and used later if required. I have used the Shantam and the Anirveda one’s which give out the most amazing fragrances. Don’t burn these candles for more than 2 hours at a stretch and each of the tinned candles come with instructions on how they need to be used.
This is one of the most simplest things to use. Fill in empty cup with at least 80% water and light a candle below it. Add not more than 2 -3 drops of oil in the water and let the aroma waft in your house. A tealight candle typically burns for about 3 hours and the aroma stays in the house/room for at least 2 hours or more depending on the quantity of oil you have used. Note that if you use too much oil, the fragrance can get to the point of you feeling nauseated. Since these are oil concentrates, you need to use just 2-3 drops.
Where can I buy them?
Soulflower has packaged kits that have an essential oil, candles and a diffuser. I have seen this on Natural Mantra. So if you want you can pick up the packaged kits and the oils that you would like to try. Try the Home Stop Store if you have one in your city, you will also get to pick up something that you may like.
The oils are priced Rs. 250 onwards and while the shelf life varies from 2 years to 4 years, I have realized that since these are oils they won’t go bad. And I do not throw away the oils even if they have passed the expiry date because there is no difference in the fragrances.
Will I recommend this?
Yes, only if you love fragrances around you. I’ve always found them calming and relaxing and I pick up fragrances that are safe for my kids too.
