You don’t need to visit a salon to get the perfectly pedicured feet. All that you need are right products and some time to put that best food forward. Follow a regime for beautiful feet and here is how you can do that.
Wash your feet everyday
Try using the BoroHeal by Iha. This is an excellent foot wash which comes with a seaweed loofah that also gently scrubs away all the dirt and grime from your feet. I use this almost everyday. I also use a peppermint foot scrub to gently exfoliate the dead cells at least twice a week.
Once a week use a foot soak or foot salts to relax your feet. Take hot water in a bucket ( as hot as you can handle) and I use the Fizzy soak and the Vedic Line Foot Soak
Exfoliate
If your heels are just dry, you can use a pumice stone to gently scrub off the dead and dry skin. Be careful not to use the pumice stone too vigorously as it could hurt your skin. After you have used the pumice stone on your dry skin, wash your feet with warm water or if you can, soak it in warm water with a bit of olive or coconut oil to moisturise your feet. Pat dry your feet. If your heels are cracked, skip the scrubbing with the pumice stone because it will cause further injury on the cracked heels causing it to bleed. Your first need to ensure that your cracked heels are totally repaired.
An alternative way to exfoliate is also to use a cream or a gel based scrub on wet feet and massage it for a few minutes. You can try some of the scrubs here .
A massage with the scrub with help you get rid of the dead skin too and when you use a cream based scrub, it also moisturises your feet a bit. But since you will wash your feet with warm water and scrub it dry, I suggest that you do not skip Step 3.
Moisturize
Apply a foot cream, lotion or foot ointment. There are many lotions available offering moisturizers. Choose from the variety here. The Foot Cream from Dr. Batra’s is an excellent option that I will be reviewing shortly. Applying a cream and massaging it helps to repair the cracks and also keep your feet soft.
And if you have feet that tend to sweat, try this product. This soothing liquid feet powder is a unique formula that starts as a lotion to soften your feet and transforms into a light, silky powder to keep feet dry and refreshed all day.
Home Remedies
Foot Soak
If you are looking for a quick fix, mix one cup of honey and half a teaspoon of turmeric in half a bucket of water and soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes. Honey and turmeric have antiseptic properties and it is a safe cure for cracked or bleeding skin. Wash your feet with a mild cleanser post the soaking and pat dry.
Foot Scrub
Squeeze the juice out of 3 lemons. Add two tablespoons of brown sugar and a teaspoon of olive oil. Mix thoroughly and use this as a foot scrub. Massage your feet for at least 3 – 4 minutes with this scrub for good results
Foot Pack
Take a fruit of your choice, preferably a fruit with high water content. Papayas and musk melons is what I use. Take a slice of papaya, add a teaspoon of olive oil and one teaspoon of rock salt. Blend in a mixer or mash it in a bowl. Apply this on your feet as a pack for at least 10 minutes. For sweaty feet, add half a teaspoon of fullers earth in the mix.
