Sandalwood has been a fragrance that I grew up with. Whether it was soaps, incense sticks or the dhoops that were constantly a part of the growing up years. When I was sent the sandalwood shampoo for a review, I was in a quandary. Since I’ve associated sandalwood with fragrances like incense sticks etc so far, I was a bit apprehensive about a sandalwood shampoo.
Nevertheless, I took that plunge and I was happy. I have always liked shampoos that did not require a follow up with a conditioner. And this one lives up to the name. The Sandalwood Hair Cleanser cum Conditioner is from the Earthborne range. Since this is a combination of a cleanser and a conditioner, you will not require to condition your hair post the wash.
The fragrance is strong at the first sniff but it kind of fades away leaving a very mild sandalwood fragrance post a wash. And let me add that the fragrance is really nice that lingers on for a long time post the wash. With the winter my scalp tends to get dry and itchy and this shampoo, so far this has worked in keeping dry scalp at bay.
The shampoo is packed in a plastic bottle with a flip cap and unlike most shampoos
this has a very runny consistency. Considering that this doubles up as a conditioner too, I was expecting it to be a bit thicker in consistency. A plus point about this shampoo is that you require about a tablespoon for shoulder length hair. And it works up a nice lather and cleans your hair really well leaving it soft and shiny.

Price and Shelf life
This 250 ml of shampoo costs INR 895 and has a shelf life of 18 months.
Will I recommend this?
Yes. If you are one of those who loves to colour their hair and play around with new looks, I suggest that invest in this shampoo to take care of your hair. This shampoo is for good dry and damaged hair. The website claims that this is also good for chemically treated hair. If you like shampoos that also have a conditioner in it, then I would recommend this one because it does clean your hair really well. And it would cost you as much as a shampoo + a conditioner would, so I would say it is affordable.

Does this have SLS/SLES? I am looking for something without these two nasties. The W/S base in the ingredients that you mentioned is bothering me.
Awaiting response.

Unfortunately, yes it does. It is supposed to be in permissible quantities though. I will not recommend it if you are looking for a completely organic solution!
