I have already reviewed a product by Nourish Bath and Body earlier, the Madras Madness Coffee Body Scrub, which is simply superb. If you love coffee, then you must try the product. I have already reviewed it here. The first time that I had picked their products was when I shopped for some of their soaps on Urban Touch. I had picked up the Rise and Shine Soap, the watermelon soap and I recently also got the Sleeping Angels Lotion from them for a review. Most of the products by Nourish Bath and Body are handmade, with the purest of ingredients like honey, Aloe Vera, olive oil, almonds, cocoa butter. Their products are suitable for all age groups ( 16 +) Today I am going to stick to the review of Sleeping Angels Lotion. I shall save the reviews of the soaps for another day!
Sleeping Angels Lotion
The first whiff that hits your nose is that of a medley of flowers. The initial fragrance is strong, really strong. Once you have applied it, the fragrance gets absorbed in your skin and it is not very intense. I have not used this on my face, but I have used it on the body and hands. It leaves behind a very mild fragrance post application. I have used this in nights because it has a hint of Lavender. Lavender is known to be relaxing agent for a tired body. So if you use a liberal amount of this lotion to massage before you sleep, it is quite relaxing.
Oh, and I forgot to add that on a close inspection I found there were these really small shiny particles that will shimmer on your body. Pretty neat!
Packaging : It is packed in a sturdy plastic bottle and you need to pump out the lotion. So you can pump out as much as you want. Again, the packaging is really simple, but when you have a good product in the bottle, you don’t really care about the packaging!
Price and Shelf Life: This is priced at Rs. 345 for a 220 ml bottle. It comes with a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture. As I have mentioned in my earlier review, I did not find the products to be very expensive.
Where can I buy this?: You can buy the Sleeping Angels Lotion from their online store. Their soaps are available on Urban Touch and Snapdeal.
Will I recommend this: If you are a fan of floral products, go ahead and buy this. You won’t regret it. However, if you have dry skin, you may need a really generous amount of this lotion to massage on your body and hands. I have not used this on my face so I cannot comment if it is suitable for the face.
About the product ( as mentioned on the website)
This shimmering lotion is fresh, flowery , delicate & pink with notes of Rose, Muget & Lavender. It has a heavenly aroma, like a cross between a baby & a field of flowers. We have blended this lotion with a rich assortment of ingredients renowned for their benefits to the skin. The result – a superb moisturizer for the face, body & hands that will protect your skin all day & revitalize it at night.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Jojoba Oil , Aloe Vera , Vitamin E Oil , Fragrance & Preservatives
Note: The soaps mentioned in the post were bought by me and the lotion was sent by the PR for a review.

Is this the same brand that is also in Delhi, I have seen it in a mall but I don’t remember where. If yes, they do have some really amazing products. I love the fragrance when you pass by that shop.
Anjali Pant says
I think I had seen it somewhere at urban touch , but never got to purchase anything from the brand. Could you please guide me about this brand ( safety aspect ) ? And yes , in the ingredient list , just the word “preservatives” has been mentioned , and not the names of the preservatives have been listed down . Do you have any idea about what all preservatives have been added , and whether they are chemical based or edible ones ? Thanks ! 🙂
Prats says
I’ve thrown away the bottle and this was reviewed before I wrote the ingredients. I’ll get back to you on this soon!
Anjali Pant says
Okay , do let me know 🙂 Also one more thing , like you recommended its soaps , but the ingredient list of the soaps mention “soap base” . Do you have any idea about what this base is comprised of ?
Prats says
One feedback on the soap was that they tend to break apart. It is made up of bits and pieces, if you look at the soaps in this post, the crown, the hair and the face were in three pieces post the usage. However these were sample soaps, so they were tiny, so that could be why they fell apart. The complete list of ingredients will be posted as soon as I get a reply !
Anjali Pant says
Oh ! 🙁
No worries , atleast you made your best efforts to get the list. Great job ! 🙂
And yes , the brands which include parabens/ sles , they say that they add a very little amount , which is FDA approved. I had a similar experience with a brand called Nirwaana. If you’ll see their website , they have specified about not adding parabens and other such stuff. However I didn’t get to see anything against SLES , and hence decided to contact them directly. The lady I got to speak told me that they do add SLES , but that is because it is essential for foaming and has been added in a very small amount. Well , some doctors may approve what she told me , but you see I personally prefer not to use even a bit of these controversial stuff. Hence I didn’t make any purchase with them 🙂
By the way do know any good sunscreen which is sweat resistant/water proof ( better if mattifying or calamine based ) for super oily skin especially in humid weather ?
Prats says
Nirwwana? Or was it Nirvaaha? What products are you talking about? Never heard of Nirwaana. I am yet to try the Omved shampoos and conditioners, they are SLS free so they don’t foam, but I am told that they are fantastic!Should try them the next time!
Prats says
Got the list and not so good news 🙁 This is what the person from Nourish had to say
Preservative – 0.75% Phenoxyethanol, 0.15% mg Methylparaben, 0.04% Ethylparaben, 0.04% Butylparaben and 0.02%Propylparaben.
I know there is a lot of negative press about parabens on the internet , that is why I am sending you a link where according to the US FDA parabens are approved upto 25% , whereas we are using only 0.25%.

Prats says
My apologies for not doing my research well enough.
Anjali Pant says
Its Nirwana Wellnes : http://nirwanawellness.com
Nirvaaha is another fab entry. They make genuine stuff.
Omved Shampoos and Conditioners are a lil pricey . Maybe for that reason never got to try them. Whenever you try , please update a post ! 🙂
By the way do know any good/safe sunscreen which is sweat resistant/water proof ( better if mattifying or calamine based/tinted one ) for super oily skin especially in humid weather ?
Prats says
I don’t use sunscreens at all. I use the Omved protective face moisturiser on a daily use. I work out of home so travelling is limited. Won’t calamine be sticky in a humid weather? I won’t be able to recommend for Oily skin, but stop by an FE store, they should have something nice,
Anjali Pant says
Okay ! Calamine works great for oily skin , but yes that also depends upon the entire formulation. Calamine can be used for both dry and oily skin. And zinc oxide gives a nice finish to the face. And yes uptil now I haven’t come across anything that works in humid weather , hence was looking for a tinted one 🙂 Lotus has launched its higher end tinted sunscreens ; although they are paraben free but include glycols , hence I was a lil apprehensive in purchasing any of them. If you come across anything like that I have mentioned in former comment , please do let me know 🙂
Prats says
You really should start your own blog !
Anjali Pant says
Now , that’s a compliment ! Thanks ! 😀
Well , I wanted to ask you about something. These Nourish soaps , in their ingredient list , mention soap base. Do you what exactly a soap base is , and whether it is the same for all brands , or vary from brand to brand ? Actually some people , like Do Bandar ( my another fav ) , Soulflower list down all good natural hebs/oils and in addition mention saponified oils , and brands like rustic art and burst of happyness ( another hit ) mention lye. Whereas some brands mention soap base / natural soap base. So here Iam a lil confused . It would be great if you could enlighten me with your viewpoint 🙂
Anjali Pant says
And yes , about sunscreens , I read a few posts/articles of some doctors recently , where they mentioned that sunscreen is not just about wearing a screen outside. Its also very much applicable when we are at home , since scattered light is always around. Also in kitchen , the flame produces some kind of light , which should be protected from a sunscreen/sunblock. I thought I should share it with you 🙂 As for me , Iam still on a hunt ! 🙁
Ray S says
@Anjali
have you found out anything more about sunscreen/sunblocks yet?
Prats says
She’s disappeared as usual 🙂
Anjali Pant says
Hey Prats ! Iam back ! 🙂
@Ray S , first of all about those ecosticks , I haven’t received any response from Nirvaaha as yet , and personally I would recommend you to go for diffuser oils , for which Prats would guide you the best.
Secondly , my sunscreen hunt is still on. Sunscreens which are usually available in the market , both commercial and medicated ones , have chemical sun barriers which are harmful to skin ( eg oxybenzone , octinoxate ) , plus chemical additives. Hence I was looking for an organic physical sunscreen ( in line with Rustic Art’s Sunscreen , Soleo Organics sunscreen -sadly they do not suite my skin type). Outside India , there are some really good brands , but both price and availability is an issue.
Prats says
Welcome back I say!!! Girls sadly I hate sunscreen, so I am not the right person to comment 🙁
Anjali Pant says
Hey !
Well but wearing a sunscreen is indeed important these days ; not just outside but inside as well . Infact these days even I go out without a sunscreen, but thats just because I am yet to find the right one 🙁
Btw , these days Puro Body and Soul is my new favourite . Its face wash is really mild and suitable for all skin types. And the most amazing is its hair cleanser and conditioner : monsoon scalp itching vanished and yes just the right amount of moisture. Its other products are also good : face scrub , soaps , face masque , face moisturizer. But yes again , choices do differ :p And Prats I tried the limited edition of azafran body washes, they are more or less same , with a little strong fragrance. Out of all I found lavender one the mildest , however I didn’t like it that much ; I have a great fondness for lavender and yiang yiang combo :p
Prats says
Let me know which one reduced the scalp itching . Need for me too
Ray S says
@Anjali : what is your skin type? and is the Puro Body & Soul Lavender and Ylang Ylang cleanser & conditioner free of nasties?
@Prats : have you heard of Oilcraft Naturals? they have their own site and are available on greenngood.com
Prats says
Nope, not yet, will look it up soon 🙂
Ray S says
As you mentioned the full list of the soaps from Nourish, does this Sleeping Angels also have nasties hidden in them? I just wanted to clarify from you.
Prats says
Yes it does. In one of my conversations with Anjali, another blog reader I mentioned the same. It has parabens, but the founder says it is in limited quantities that will not harm the skin. I got to know it late, but good enough for me to stay away from the product.
Anjali Pant says
Great ! But still , as choices differ , you may ask for samples . I mean just in case you do not like them ( shampoo n conditioner are sold in combo ) , then rs 690 ( actual price is around rs625 , NM add freight charges ) would go in vain 🙁
Prats says
can i buy it directly from Puro?
Anjali Pant says
Hello ! 🙂
@prats : you may directly buy from puro , but the whole procedure is complicated. There is no cod . You would have to transfer rs 625+shipping charges into their a/c , then they will dispatch. Checkout at ladyblush , at present no shipping charges are included . If you do not find the cleanser there , then just wait for a day , they are in the process of uploading it at their website.
@Ray S : my scalp is really oily . And monsoon makes it worse. Well puro is also a brand that tag ingredients as “key”, hence initially even I was apprehensive in purchasing them. I asked puro whether they add : sles , als , phenoxy , dea/tea , potassium sorbate , edta etc in their products , and they assured me that they don’t . Its not just about what they told me , its also about the kind of work they are doing. I have always appreciated the people who work for a social cause like Neev and Puro ( associated with Sanisa women org ) . Hence trust comes on its own 🙂 Well I have tried oilcraft naturals : their floral water is amazing esp panchpushp ( its fragrance is like that of kewara , yumm :p ) . I took these products , since chances of adulteration are less here. I tried to persuade oilcraft to reveal their complete ingredient list , and since they didn’t do so , I also didn’t went ahead with their range .
Anjali Pant says
Puro Body and Soul Lavender and Yiang Yiang cleanser and conditioner . Actually I order their products quite often , so I had asked for their cleanser and conditioner ‘s samples .
Prats says
Will pick this one tomorrow!
Ray S says
yeah, prevention is absolutely better than cure.
Anjali Pant says
I even like Soul Tree s Triphala one , but that does not help in preventing scalp-itchiness . I find Puro one better 🙂
Prats says
The same products generally work for the both of us 🙂 will try them.
Ray S says
@Prats : thank you. I will wait 🙂
@Anjali : does it help with dandruff too?
Anjali Pant says
@ray s , I can’t comment on that as I don’t have such a prob . Its only in winters that dandruff becomes an inevitable issue for me. And one more thing , with such products , hit and trial is the only way to see how they work for you.
Prats says
Totally agree with Anjali on this. Even the best of organic products my not suit you !
Anjali Pant says
Exactly !
Like my scalp is oily , then that does not mean that my scalp is just like all those oily scalps in the world. Hence , only post usage one can decide how it fares out for that person. Like before Puro , I was using Soul Tree triphala and Rustic art aloe shampoos interchangeably. However I wasn’t satisfied with both , since they did nothing to eliminate “the trapped moisture ” from my scalp and hair. When I switched to Puro , I discovered a significant change. The scalp-itch reduced , however it did not disappear ( taking into account the “monsoon effect” ). But yes , Iam satisfied. Now this does not suggest that it will work the very same way for all the oily scalps. So , you’ll have to check for yourself. What I can tell , is only a rough estimate. Good Luck ! 🙂
Prats I need a favour from you. Remember , you told me that you have got Tatha’s products at your place? Just wanted to know hows they are. And better , if you could cross check with Tatha about the genuineness of their stuff.
Actually this brand claims that they do not add “any chemical /synthetic preservative” at all. And for that reason , their shelf life is short. Since the brand profile is tempting , I am planning to give it a try , however , I have not received any response from them about the credibility of their products 🙁
Anjali Pant says
I have just had a conversation with Ladyblush. Puro’s shampoo+conditioner would be up on their website , in an hour or two , plus they’ll add other products of puro. Price is Rs625 , and shipping is free 🙂
Prats says
Danke!
Anjali Pant says
Ladyblush peope delayed the uploading work . They say it will be up by 6 pm today . Then we both can place our orders 🙂
