When I quit the corporate world to be a stay at home mom, trust me the decision was not an easy one. From brainstorming ideas and working on new concepts, I moved to baby talk with my boys. Of course , I was happy with them and being a mother, but somewhere deep inside me, I knew that I was not happy as a person.
A chance conversation with a friend introduced me to meditation. I still have not mastered the art of meditation as yet, because I still have the to-do lists swimming in my mind when I meditate, but meditation bought with it subtle changes in my lifestyle. Meditation made me realize the power of gratitude and it also made me realize how important it was to love myself.
5 reasons why we should meditate
When we mediate we are focusing on compassion, love and good will, all of these qualities that make us wonderful people. Meditation is not just about sitting crossed leg and chanting mantras. It is present in all that we do, from watching a sunrise, to doing an activity we love, switching off the Wi-Fi and being present in the moment. All there is to do is start!

At the start of the year, I resolved to accomplish certain goals that would help me be better professionally and personally. I wanted to start writing for a recognized blog that had a strong international presence. It was around the same time that I got to know about Elephant Journal thanks to Vidya Sury, the awesome blogger of Going A-musing who would often tweet about them. When I started reading about them I realised that they promoted all things that I believed in and honestly, I would not have had a better platform to showcase myself. That was when I made a note that by January, I would want to get accepted with them. And when you believe good things will happen to you, it actually will! This is my fourth post published with Elephant Journal and I believe that this is just the start.

Pratibha, you are a champ..that’s who you are! May you grow and grow! 🙂 I am honored you should credit me!
Lovely, Pratibha! Know that you’ve been hugged this morning. Your drive is inspiring me too! ♥
PS: Vidya lives the ‘sharing is caring’ philosophy’!
Thanks Corinne! You get a hug back too! You and Vidya are examples of how important it is to spread love! Thank you for everything.
I have been meditating for a long time now. I began when I was thirteen and yes I know the power of it, I have felt it at every step. Pratibha congratulations of meeting your targets, I know I took a few last year finished them well and the satisfaction of this knowledge still stays with me. All the best for all your endeavours 🙂
I have just started it Richa and I notice subtle differences in me. I have a really long way to go!
I love how you describe meditation as present in everything that u do. Being aware and at the sane time being at peace with the chaotic surroundings is something that you achieve in time. I often tell people Dancing is my medication. Most don’t get that!
N congrats on what u have achieved… All the best!
I think meditation equates to finding calm and when I do things that calm me I find it healing. So I love things that make me happy. That is as good as meditating for me.
I believe in the power of meditation. i do it through Reiki and just as you mentioned, it has helped me stay focused, positive and healthy. Glad that it worked for you too and it helped you achieve your goals too! Cheers 🙂
I have immense respect for anyone who can heal! Wow, reiki! I know that this is just the start, I have many demons to battle before I find the peace 🙂
Meditation helps me be myself.. gathers my thoughts and strengthens my soul…
You have said it beautifully! 🙂
Thanks! I guess each one has a calling and meditation appears in its own ways to heal and better you as a person. That is what I have always believed in.
Pratibha: You have a beautiful mind. I’m glad you are sharing it with the world. Your blogs are a blessing for me. I would encourage you to study Reiki if you find a teacher. I’m only Level 1 Reiki, but it has helped me a lot. Hugs to you, Dustin
Thank you Dustin. Your words are very encouraging and I feel truly blessed to have people like you in my life who are a constant support. I do wish that we meet soon! Hugs!
Ditto on that Prats! I hope we meet soon too. We are going to UK this year. Maybe India next year. 🙂
