With barely an hour left for the emergency surgery, I was a good one month early to deliver the boys. All my planning took a back seat and my concentration was to ensure that the babies would be fine. When they were born, they were absolutely tiny and stayed in the NICU for almost 12 days. When they were home, they were barely weighing 2 kilos and I had to take a lot of care to ensure they were well.
Being a parent is not easy! And when it is twins, my task list just doubled and at the same time I had the mammoth task of ensuring my boys got healthy soon. It was during those days, when I had one free hour that I would search for a good organic baby massage oil for my boys. Honestly, I missed my naani who used to make these awesome concoctions for the babies and I wished that I could find an alternative that was even remotely close to what she did. All I could recollect was a fragrance the oil would have. No one in the family had ever thought of jotting down the ingredients and everyone had their own version.
Why was I looking at an organic baby massage oil?
I was not particularly impressed with many massage oils and let me not take names of brands here. For those, who have been following my blog, will know that I steer away from commercial products and prefer the traditional ways of healing. I was clear in my mind that I had to use something that was a blend of traditional knowledge because only that would not only help my boys grow stronger but also strengthen their bones and promote their overall physical growth. After all, in the olden times, traditional ways of healing always worked and I was sure that it would work even now.
Somewhere in the fast paced lives, we settled for things that was easily available. But when you become a mother, your notions and ideas change. I did not want to settle for anything commercial, but wanted a product that was made according to Ayurvedic standards. I zeroed in to a few massage oils for babies and with a few trials and errors, finally stuck to Dabur Lal Tail. With a regular massage not only did I notice a marked improvement in their development, but they also slept well and their tender skin would be moisturised and nourished for a long time.

Why do I recommend this?
So what is so special about this oil that I, as a mother recommend it? The answer is simple, the blend of Ayurvedic herbs that promote good health and an overall development is a winner for me. This oil has been considered the elixir for the skin. While it can be used by everyone, it is particularly recommended for babies because it helps in strengthening the bones and is good for growth and an overall development. Sesame or til oil is known to be a rich source of minerals and has been known to also keep the tender skin soft because sesame oil has the ability to hold in the moisture.

Recommended?
Of course yes! Now, when you have the awesome combination of these tried and tested herbs that have been certified by Ayurvedic practitioners from the past thousands of years, would you not use it? As a mother, would you not choose a healthier and a safer alternative for your child? Choosing a good and the right organic baby massage oil will help your little one grow stronger and healthier.
As babies and even now, my boys love a massage! At nights before they sleep, I ensure that they have a leg massage to soothe the tired feet. Just 5 minutes of massage ensures that they get a good sleep because the effect of the oil is calming as well as relaxing. And as a mom, nothing else makes me happy than a product that promotes the well-being of my children.
Looking for the right massage technique? Here is how to do it!
- Let your baby lie on the back on a bed.
- Start with some sweeping strokes to let the baby know you are beginning the massage
- Start from the legs. Take some massage oil in your hands and rub your hands to warm the oil.
- Perform long sweeping strokes from the thigh to the soles.
- Put a bit of oil in the belly button and massage the stomach in circular strokes in a clockwise direction.
- Massage the chest and the arms with long sweeping strokes. Massage very lightly on the chest
- Massage little circles on the palms and the soles of the feet.
- Pour some oil on the head and sweep the thumbs across the forehead, brows and temples in little circles.
- Turn the baby and massage the back and the buttocks and the legs with long strokes.
- Now massage the whole body with firm sweeping strokes and squeeze the soles of the feet to complete the massage.

Knowing all the naughtiness and the acrobatics the twins now do on a daily basis, I would say your massage techniques have sure paid off and they are a bunch of robust kids. 🙂 Best of luck !
