What does it take to have healthy, glowing and gorgeous skin? The right make up? The right skin care regime? Or just a natural approach to skin care? I’ve never been blessed with gorgeous skin. My search for some good tips often ended up getting conflicting results and I was always confused about the right regime to follow. Thanks to the endless research, I am came up with the list of basic and essential natural skin care tips that everyone should know.
5 Natural skin care tips
Eat lots of veggies and fruits
What you eat shows on your skin. So if you love the fries and the burgers, you are likely to be prone to acne and skin break outs. What you eat also nourishes your skin. Incorporate a lot of fresh leafy veggies and fruits in your diet. Toss up some fresh fruits or fresh veggie salads. Since these are in the raw form, your body will also get the adequate hydration with these foods.
Stay off caffeine
I have a confession to make here.I was addicted to a drink called RedBull that was high in caffeine content. I needed to drink at least two cans a day. It did not help my skin at all, the pigmentations and dark circles were my perfect companions. I quit drinking it 5 months ago, I switched to detox drinks and herbal teas. No, I don’t have the jaw dropping gorgeous skin as yet, but I can feel that I am getting there. The pigmentation is lesser and the energy levels are higher.
Some exercise please
People who exercise regularly tend to flush out some toxins by sweating. It also helps to accelerate the blood flow and bring fresh oxygen to the skin. Go for a walk or perform a suryanamaskar or some basic yoga asanas that will not just keep your body fit, but will also help you get gorgeous skin.
Drink lots of water
Did you know that most of our organs is comprised mainly of water? When you drink less water, the cells get dehydrated and the basic functions of the body organs begin to slow down, making your skin look sallow. When your skin is not hydrated enough, it begins to look rough and dry and becomes less resilient and elastic. What does this mean? Yes, you get those fine lines and wrinkles sooner than you imagined! So drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water every day.
Follow the CEM routine
The CEM ( Cleanse-Exfoliate-Moisturise) routine is one of the basic natural skin care tips. Use a soap free and mild cleanser to clean your skin on a daily basis. I have been using the Omved Deep Facial Cleanser for over a year now and have recently started using the Rustic Art face wash too. With both these awesome products, I find it difficult to switch to any commercial face cleanser. Ditto for a body wash. Use a mild body wash devoid of SLS and parabens to keep your skin healthy. Exfolite your skin at least twice a week, you can make home made scrubs for your body at home, but for the face opt for a natural and gentle exfoliator that will clean your face gently. Moisturise your skin at least twice a day or more depending on your skin type. Try and use a body butter in the winter if you have a dry to normal skin because it tends to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised for a long time.
At the end, I discovered that there was nothing right and nothing wrong! All that one needed to do was follow natural skin care tips that ensured the skin was hydrated all the time. What I have listed is my skin care regime. What is yours?

Wonderful pointers. While I am able to do well with 1, 4 and 5. I am not able to give up on my milky tea. Have tried other healthy options but somehow, that urge to have 2 cups daily is not going. Of course, I need to try harder. And I cant stick to my exercise regime. I do it for 3 days then give up, start again and the cycle follows 🙁
I am drinking warm water and they say that it has loads of benefits. Have you tried that?
Pratibha says
I am not a fan of either tea or coffee!!So it helps me to stay away from it. I prefer to drink warm water with a hint of lemon of as my CFC drink. I just know that it keeps the toxins out! 🙂
