In this fast paced life, we often resort to means that are not good for us. When I became a mother, I was a part of the crowd that used the usual baby products till a chance visit to a store changed my life and the thought process. The past four years have been spent scouting for products that I can use for the boys and here is a post compiling all those products that are my favourite. I wrote a post on Organic clothing brands for kids in India. Following up is this post that should be your pit stop for all natural organic baby skin products.
The comprehensive list of natural organic baby skin products available in India
Massage oils
All of us know the importance of giving a baby a massage. Not only does it makes your baby stronger and healthy, but also makes the body soft and supple. I have listed three massage oils that you can choose from for your little one.
1. Omved Shishu Thailam
A longer review is due for this product, I have been using this for the past 2 months, and yes my boys still love the foot massages! The Omved Shishu thailam in an Ayurvedic concoction that uses virgin coconut oil as a base and is packed with medicinally rich herbs like Ashwagandha, Manjishtha and Ushira. This massage oil also doubles as a hair oil and helps to ease colic, improve sleep, encourage weight gain, boost brain growth and alleviate symptoms of eczema and other milder skin ailments such as nappy rash.
2. Rustic Art Massage Oils
Rustic Art has two variants of the massage oil – Evoke and Green Apple. While I have used both, I have reviewed only the Green Apple variant till now. Both the massage oil has soothing qualities and the organic oil is a suitable choice to keep the body nourished and supple. It has a really lovely fragrance that is refreshing and long lasting. You can read my review here and can buy this oil from Flipkart here and Ecotokri.
3. Dabur Lal Tail
This massage oil is a blend of Ayurvedic herbs that promotes good health and an overall development. It has sesame oil, camphor, ratanjyot, shankhpushpi and urad dal, all these ingredients have been used since time immemorial to better a child’s health and when all the ingredients are used together in an oil, you can be assured that you have an awesome massage oil.
My tip: Always consult your doctor when you are introducing your child to a massage oil and stick to an oil that your baby’s skin gets adjusted to. Using too many oils can cause a rash.
Soaps, Body washes and Shampoo
1. Gulnar
This is a new brand that I have just discovered and I have ordered it too from GreennGood, the soaps from Gulnar, a glance at the ingredients list shows that it is organic, I am waiting for it to arrive so that I can use it and see how it fares.
2. Rustic Art
Then there is the ever favourite Rustic Art Baby Soap that my boys totally love! I have already reviewed it, so you can head here to read the review. What I love about the soaps from Rustic Art is that a little bit goes a long way. This is more of a summer soap than a winter soap though. I never knew that Rustic Art also had a body wash for the kids for a very long time and this one has been ordered and I am waiting for it to arrive!
3. Omved
I find the Omved soaps perfect to use in the winters because they leave the skin absolutely hydrated and nourished and it does not dry out the skin. The Mrudu soap with saffron and almond milk is what the boys skin loves in the winter. I prefer to use the Amulya bath bar for the boys in the summers as it is really light soap. Omved also has a lovely body wash and shampoo that leaves the hair absolutely squeaky clean. While this can be used as a body wash too, my preference has always been to use this as a shampoo. You can buy this here.
4. OG Mama fragrance free soap
I have not used any product from this range as yet, but I have come across some rave reviews. I found these products to be slightly overpriced and these are supposed to be absolutely organic as well as natural. This fragrance free body wash is gentle enough for a six month old baby and you can buy this here.
5. Chicco – Gentle Body Wash and Shampoo
This is another product that I have not tried as yet, but the product is supposed to free of SLS, parabens, artificial colours and alcohol. I have never used Chicoo products as yet and interestingly even though they promote this as an organic body wash and shampoo none of the organic e-retail stores have this product in the store. You can buy this product here.
Body lotions and creams
I use body lotions and creams all year round for the boys and till date, I have found only two brands that are of good quality and the your guess is right! I use the Omved Cuddles and Comfort lotion all through the season till the start of the winter because it is light and non greasy. The Rustic Art baby lotion is my favourite for the winters because it has a slightly thicker consistency and is a teeny bit on the oily side because of which it leaves the skin moisturised and soft for a longer time in the winter.
That was my list of products used and unused across the various options available in natural organic baby skin products. Do you have anything to add to this list?

Hey ! 🙂
I will personally not recommend OG Mama fragrance free wash for kids because it’s over drying. I have oily skin , and I used this summers , in the very humid climate. It was quite good for that time – completely oil free. But yes , not for kids from my view point and definitely not for winters !
One more thing , these days Iam following Aurva naturals. It’s aroma therapy based company. The owner is an aromatherapy specialist. Really cooperative team. They have limited range , but quite impressive. Infact she take personal consultancy , approx Rs.500 for each sitting. In that she provides you with a healthy diet routine and also with exactly what your skin type requires. I guess , even for kids , consultancy with such a person may prove useful. Available at NM ! 😀

thanks Anjali. I have not used this product as yet, I have read good reviews of the product. Maybe it will be a good summer wash, like some of the products I use I know are good for certain seasons.
I have not heard of Aurva Naturals, do they also do online consultancy? Let me know.
Anjali pant says
Yes online consultancy. At present they are in US. The concerned person is Mrs.Maulika Bhavasar. At NM their products are available. Not expensive either.

Iam not sure that how OG mama would fare out in case of kids , even in summers. It’s really drying . Actually I had purchased the sample bottle priced at Rs 180 from greenngood. However greenngood does not keep this brand anymore. I guess the sample bottles and body butters/oils of this brand are available at NM. You may have a look there .

Hi Pratibha,
My 2 year old has very sensitive skin and I have by now ditched all known baby lotions and potions. I have a nagging thought about the soap though and I am so glad you covered this. Thank you for the recommendations.
