I wasn’t always inclined to an eco-friendly or a greener life. Trust me, something as simple as carrying my own bag is a thing I struggle with and I am absolutely guilty of lugging back the groceries in a plastic packet. When you are single and have the convenience of shopping off the shelf, the last thing that was on my mind was to opt for eco friendly options. The whole mindset changed by leaps and bounds when I had my boys and anything and everything that I chose was chemical free and natural; safe for us as well as the earth.
Whether it was going green in the bathroom by choosing chemical free options or skin care, we made a conscious effort to use natural options. Being a mom to twin boys, I never really had the time or indulge in skin care treatments. I have listed a few tried and natural beauty routines to try at home. These are simple, effective and you don’t need to really step out of your home for these ingredients. These are typically found in the Indian kitchen. Read on to know more about these 3 miracle ingredients that you can try.
Natural beauty routines to try at home
Coconut oil
I have been using pure coconut oil for a while of my skin for a while now. Take a tsp of coconut oil and massage it on your face and neck using upward strokes. Massage for about 5 minutes and cover your face and neck with a warm and damp towel. Let it stay for about 5 minutes. Wipe it off with the towel and you can use more warm water if required to clean your face. This works really well if you have dry skin. Do this at least thrice a week to let your skin tone improve. You can view my post on various other uses of coconut oil.
Oats and Brown Sugar Scrub
I love scrubs and I have always preferred making my own scrubs. This body scrub is refreshing and invigorating. Take about 4 tbsp of oats and run it in a mixer to make it into a powder. Add to this 3 tbsps of brown sugar, 3 tbsps of olive oil and 2 drops each of Peppermint EO and Lavender EO. Peppermint refreshes you while lavender calms you. You can also choose to add your own essential oils to the scrub. This is typically enough for one use. You can make more ans store it, but I prefer making a fresh batch every time.
Banana and Honey face mask
Mask a banana with the fork till it is completely soft. Add to this half a tsp of honey, dash of a lime and half a tsp of yogurt. Mix till all the ingredients have blended completely. Apply on our face and neck and let it stay for about 15 minutes. Wipe it off with a soft towel soaked in warm water. Follow up with a moisturiser if your skin feels dry.
