My Omved picks

March 13, 2013 By: Pratibha74 Comments

I was introduced to Omved about a year and a half ago, when a particularly enchanting aroma led me to the Omved store in the mall. It was not the fragrance that attracted me, but the calmness in the aroma that was bliss. They had just burnt the dhoop in the store and every breath I inhaled was beautiful! And thus, began my journey of being introduced to the world of PURE LIVING.

When you know the worth of a pure product and especially when you are a mom you begin to understand the importance of pure and natural living. Omved is a part of my daily life, whether is their soaps and scrubs, clothes and candles, the dhoops and roll ons or the awesome lip balms. Let me let you peek into my Omved world. Let me introduce you my top 5 products I love from Omved, not necessarily, just for me.

Taruni Skin Mask, review of Omved products 1. Skin Care : I am in love with the face packs and ubtans. My favourite pick has to be the All skin Types ubtan. Honestly, I have forgotten the number of people I gifted this to. This is by far one of the best natural cleanser and exfoliator that I have come across. Dunk that face wash and switch to this, honestly, you won’t ever need anything else for your face. There is this lingering fragrance of camphor in this scrub that I have begun to love. The best part is that you can use this as a scrub and as a mask. My preferred usage is the scrub, because it doubles up as a face wash. Try it once and you will never regret it!

2. The kiddie range: Yes, they have an entire range for kids right from tees, to organic razai’s, compresses, soaps and onesies. Surprised? Don’t be! I use a lot of their products for my twin boys and my nephew. My boys totally love the fragrance of the Cuddles and Comfort Lotion, the body wash and the soaps. These products are specially formulated for children. I love the range of products for their pureness. The lotions keep the skin absolutely nourished.

Omved for Kids

Look up the ingredient list of your kid’s body lotion, if you find paraben listed, it is time you dunk it, because it is just not healthy for them. Switch to something that will keep them away from the harsh chemicals.

3. Dhoops : This one gets me back to my childhood! Really, the dhoops remind me of what my nani would burn at her home in the evenings. This is a perfect alternative to not only cleanse your home but also fill it with the goodness of the aroma it leaves behind. I use the dhoop varieties at least thrice a week. My favourite one is Nirvat followed by Tejate and Shuddhi. Trust me this fragrance is a lot better than the commercial air fresheners that are available in the market and a tin of dhoop if used thrice a week should last you at least 2 months. Isn’t that economical?

4. Foot soak and moisturiser: There is nothing more relaxing than soaking your feet in a pail of hot water with some foot awesome soak that refreshes you instantly. If you want to experience that, but the Omved Tired Foot Soak that is just the right remedy for tired feet. The yummy fragrance of peppermint is

almost invigorating and the salts work magic. The moisturiser ( I am on the second bottle now) is something I will stick on to for a really long time. It worked wonders in the winter for me and even though I need just half the quantity in the summers, I still use it to keep my skin hydrated.

5. Soaps: How can I miss this? I love the collection of soaps that they have for kids! I’ve used just one for myself, but wasn’t too please with it, so I switched to having soaps just for my boys. Berry Mantra used to be my absolute favourite till I discovered Amulya and the Mrudu bath bars. Why do I love these? Simple, as a mom I would want the best for my kids and what is better than giving them a life free of harsh chemicals that can wreak havoc on their tender skins. If you are a mom, you must have this for your kids!

That was all about what I love about Omved. Limiting it to five is sad because I can’t talk about the other wonderful stuff they have. Let me save that for another post! But before I wrap up, here is a little something just for you.

That’s really amazing ! 🙂 Prats I have a query – could I use omved all skin types ubtan as an alternative to my daily face wash , like using it 2-3 times a day on daily basis ? I have a sensitive-combination skin type , so I was wondering whether it could be used a face wash. Last but not the least – really nice post 🙂

Anjali, sorry for the delay in response. I had shared your query with the founder of Omved because I thought she would be the best person to answer this. And here is what she has to say,
“she can def use on her face even if she has sensitive skin – and it will actually be better than a face wash –
some cautions – twice a day is more than enough
use the ubtan with aloe gel pref or then water, and make a more liquidy paste and also do not rub harsh, just gentle rubbing. also follow with a hydrating mist or water based light moisturiser. “

Thanks a lot ! You see , your blogs , each time ,acquaint me with such new techniques of using a product 🙂 But one thing that vexes me here , is mixing ubtan with aloe gel. I have never tried that before. Infact I have always used Omved ubtan with rose water ; gently massaging all over the face , leaving for 2 minutes and then rinsing it off. But aloe gel is something that now I would look forward for :p Could I mix Rustic Art’s aloe gel with it , or should I use the fresh aloe gel ? Till now, I have been using omved’s ubtan twice a week , but thanks to you and omved team , that now I could use it daily 😀 Its really one of the best ubtans that I have ever used. Its mild on skin , and the after-wash effects are simply “fab”. Also now Iam planning to try their “dhoop”. I love room fresheners , and a dhoop as an alternative for it , sounds great. Could you suggest which one I should try first ?

I have an aloe plant at home, so I squeeze out a few drops of the juice and add with rose water. Do try the dhoop! My kids love the smell! As mentioned, I use 3, what you can do is buy the dhoop sampler kit – http://www.omvedstore.in/products/1560-dhoop-sampler-set.aspx. It has a sachet of the varities that they have, Don’t forget to buy the charcoal tablets because that is the base to burn the dhoop – http://www.omvedstore.in/products/1565-dhoopincense-burning-charcoal.aspx

I personally love the Nirvat one. It has a very havan type of a fragrance.

Okie great ! Even I have an aloe plant at home , so from now on I’ll use it the way you have told. One more thing , to rinse off this ubtan , is it necessary to use warm water ? Like , is “warm” water essential , to bring out the best of this ubtan ? Summers are approaching , so I was wondering whether I’ll have to continue using warm water with it 😛 And yes first I’ll try the sample kit of the dhoop and I’ll purchase that charcoal tablet as well. Have you tried their incense sticks ?

I always use warm water, never tried it without the warm water even in summer. I have not tried the incense sticks as yet. I use only the dhoop from Omved.

So how was your experience with that oil ? Actually in a day or two I would be placing an order at omved , so Iam doing a bit “research” for that ! 😛

            March 15, 2013 at 4:21 am

Very honestly, it is more of a winter oil. I don’t use it in the summers. In winters I apply it like a moisturiser and keep it overnight and wash it off with an ubtan in the morning. If you do want to use it for the summers I would sugeest not keeping it more than 30 minutes max!

          • Anjali Pant says

            March 15, 2013 at 5:08 am

Yea that’s true. In summers face oil should not be kept overnight , atleast for oily/sensitive skin types. But did you notice any difference ? Like is it worth buying ?

          • Prats says

            March 15, 2013 at 5:28 am

I just found my skin clear and nourished. The itchiness that is there in the winters This is only for the winter! I don’t use it in the summers 🙂 I checked with the lady who founded Omved and she says its not a very good idea to use it in the summer, but if you do want to use it, apply a very very thin film of the oil. I have a combination skin and I do not use it at all!

Not in spray, but try these : http://www.omvedstore.in/category/1700-mashaka-mosquito-repellent-tools.aspx? I prefer the Mashaka Diffuser oil that I use in my diffusers. Not messy at all. And the fragrance lasts for a while, purifying the air and keeping it bug free.
I don’t quite like the urns because the candles don’t burn completely. If you like loose incense powders (dhoop), you can buy their powders which are equally effective.

Well I really don’t have much idea about sprays , but yes I would recommend you all , Nirvaha s Eco Stick Mosquito Repellant . It’s been a month , since Iam using it , and its truly fab . It’s available at mygreenkart and ecotokri . Ecotokri team told me , that this is one of their top selling items , which gets out of stock frequently. Omved has the coil too but I don’t recommend it because it messes up the place leaving behind the ash. Since Ray was looking for a spray, I assumed she was looking for something that was non messy and I suggested the diffuser oil because it is low maintenance and also long lasting 🙂

and another thing that I wanted to know desperately @Prats & @Anjali:
My Mother has breathing problems which started due to allergies. she’s on strict medication. would using these be safe? that is also one of the reasons for me asking about the possibility of a spray which can be applied on skin.

Then I suggest, I share the ingredient list with you for the Mashaka oil and you can get it checked by the doctor if your mom can be allergic yo anything. MAkes sense? Coils and sticks are out pf question since they leave behind smoke. As for sprays, I really wouldn’t know 🙁

Just got a reply from Nirvaaha team about their mosquito repellent ecosticks : “Yes people with acute breathing problem can use it. It is very good for the lungs infact – the herbs used in the eco stick are for that purpose. However, she should use it once and see how much ‘smoke’ of the eco stick she is comfortable with. For instance, my daughter is 8 months and i have been using this in my room since she was born. But I used half a stick, so that the smoke wouldnt be too much for her. ”

Otherwise yes , diffuser oil and sprays are good options 🙂

My apologies! You *are* the first guy to comment here 🙂 Oh yes, do go ahead and purchase that one, but let me warn you that it is a non foaming face wash.

And do use the Omved Discount Coupon 790191l to avail a 10 % off on a minimum purchase of INR 500. Valid till Aug 30th. It is a multiple use coupon 🙂

I remember the All skin types Ubtan. Loved it so much. Just wish the packaging was better. It’s a bother to use it the way it is.

They’ve changed the packaging I think. It’s got a Ziploc if I remember right. I hope I’m not confusing it with some other product.

I got a similar things as well. Wish they would use a box or something like that. I don’t care if it is 50 bucks more….. packaging is everything to me.
