Life has come to a standstill. These weeks spent indoors can actually be a blessing for one’s skin. Zero exposure to pollution and sunlight, no stepping out and facing the environmental pollutants. I have seen a visible improvement to my skin and hair texture.
But then the flip side is those dark and puffy eyes thanks to the excessive lookng at laptops with the work from home or the binging on Netflix. The good part, however is that you can keep your skin skin glowing during the lockdown.
With salons closed, you need to resort to home remedies that can keep your skin glowing during the lockdown. You can choose easily available ingredients in your home, combine it with a few oils or essential oils and you are done! ‘
Keep your skin glowing during the Lockdown
Since we’re indoors, why not use the time to give our skin an extra dose of pampering with ingredients around the house? Here are a couple of DIY remedies that can keep your skin glowing during the lockdown. Let’s get started shall we?
The Coconut Oil and Sugar ‘n’ Salt Scrub
WHAT YOU NEED:
- One tablespoon each of coconut oil and honey
- 1/4th cup of sugar ( brown or white)
- 1/4th cup of sea salt
- Juice of one lime
- 1 drop of lavender essential oil
Mix one tablespoon each of coconut oil and honey (preferably organic). Add 1/4th cup of sea salt and fine sugar to this and mix well. Add the juice of a lime and a drop of lavender essential oil and either whisk it or mix this in a blender for about 30 seconds. Store in an airtight container and use within a week.
Healing hair mask
A good healing mask provides the much needed nourishment to the hair and the scalp. When you use pure coconut oil and add a few hair nourishing essential oils, you are promised with good hair.
What you need:
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon raw and organic honey
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
- 5 drops lavender essential oil
Blend these ingredients in a dry glass bowl and apply from the roots to the tips of your hair. Use a shower cap to cover the hair and let it stay for at least an hour before you rinse it off with a shampoo and follow it up with a conditioner. Use this hair mask at least once a fortnight to nourish your hair.
Natural Face And Body Exfoliator
What you need:
- 1 tablespoon each of semolina, brown sugar and gram flour
- A pinch of turmeric
- 2 drops rosemary essential oil
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
- Milk as required
Mix one teaspoon of ground oats with with a teaspoon of semolina and fine brown sugar , a pinch of turmeric, a spoon full of gram flour, two drops each of rosemary and lavender essential oil. Add some milk to make a runny paste and use as a body scrub to get rid of the tan and dead skin.
