It’s a breath of fresh air. Literally. When I got back after a month, my home was filled with plants. My mum-in-law who was staying over till I got home has green fingers. She has an enviable garden that is filled with a variety of plants. Needless to say, she ensured that she added that “greenness” in my home too! And I was super happy to see my home looking so pretty.
I have plants in my balcony and I was aware that there is a collection of indoor plants that purify your home, but I never really got around finding which ones would actually work. So here are some pics of my home and a list of indoor plants that purify your home!
4 Indoor plants that purify your home
Palm Trees
I have two of these in my home. In my living room and the bedroom. Palm trees are a preferred plant that help to remove indoor air pollutants, specially formaldehyde. Aloe Vera
This is one plant that never seems to grow in abundance in my home. They tend to dry out really quickly. Nevertheless this is another plant that that is loaded with healing properties. Not only does it soothe skin burns and cuts, but also helps to keep the quality of air in your home cleaner. Just make sure that you keep it in a place that has adequate sunlight. And also ensure that the water in it drains properly. It tends to rot in accumulated water.
Song of India/ Dracaena reflexa
Dracaena reflexa or “Song of India” is a typical plant that you’ll find in almost every nursery. It has these typical green, lime colured and yellow leaves. The advantage of this plant is that you can place it in adequate sunlight or in low light. Easy to grow, this plant helps to absorb formaldehyde and xylene. This one is tucked in a corner of my home office.
Ferns
I am not a big fan of ferns because I find them really boring! The soft and feathery leaves of these plants give it a very exotic appearance and it works wonders to get rid of air pollutants. It helps to get rid of pollutants like toulene and xylene. The pollutants are typically found in paints, glues and nail polishes. This is the perfect plant to keep in your house if you have just got it painted as it will helps to cleanse the air from pollutants.
