Home remedies for freckles {DIY, Skin Care}

September 27, 2012 By: Pratibha3 Comments

One of the major causes for freckles is usually due to an over exposure to the harsh rays of the sun.Freckles occur most commonly on the face. sun-exposed skin, especially on the face. I’ve had pigmentation for as far as I can remember! And these get extremely prominent when I am out in the sun, unwell or just stressed out! As a teen, I tried everything that I could lay my hands on to get rid of these with a little success. Some home solutions worked for me and some did not. I’ve listed some home remedies that can work for you in getting rid of the freckles.

The age old besan mix is something that most of us have tried. Mix together one tbsp of lemon juice, two tbsps of gramflour ( besan) with half a tsp of turmeric. The paste will be a bit thick. Apply this paste on your freckles for 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Use milk to wash your face at least 4 times a week. The lactic acid in the milk will peels your skin without any irritation.

Regular application of buttermilk on the freckles can lighten them to quite an extent. You can also apply Vitamin E oil on the freckles at night before sleeping and wash it off with warm water in the morning.

Just plain lemon juice dabbed on the freckles can also lighten them. make a face mask of citric fruits and apply on your skin for 10 – 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Mash fresh strawberries and apply it on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water.

I’ve listed two of my favourite remedies here. These are the ones that have always worked for me.

Mint and Banana Mash

Grind a handful of mint leaves to a paste and mix with about 2-3 tbsps of mashed bananas. Mix these in a blender and apply this paste on your face to get rid of the freckles and blemishes. Keep this paste on for 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Radish and Lime Scrub

Grate half a rdish and mix it with the juice of half a lime. Apply on your face and leave it for 10 minutes. Before you wash this off, massage with this scrub for about 2 minutes in circular motions. Wash with warm water.
