Do you know the three words that make your heart race with fear, dread, anxiety and anticipation of what next? ” I am bored”, when uttered by your child in the midst of the summer vacation is enough to get the panic-o-meter rising. In my case, it is ” We are bored.”, and when you have two boys sitting glum during the vacations, you know you have to keep them busy! And when you have boys with diverse tastes, it becomes important to choose something that satisfies both of them!
Flintobox Review
And it was Flintobox that came to my rescue. When I was approached to review the FlintoBox, honestly, I was apprehensive, because I assumed it was another box that was filled with mundane activities, but on the contrary, it was not. It was super-fun, engaging and addictive. Needless to say that the boys loved it! It arrived two days after their birthday and they were super thrilled with the idea of having another present to open!
The theme of Flintobox for May was Wildlife Safari and it included 4 activities that allowed the boys to Explore, Create, Play and Read.
Activities in FlintoBox
- Jumbled in Jungle – My fav one! This one is a board game that builds up logical and communication skills. Roll the dice and get ready to save the animals. A simple, yet fun game that still keeps the boys busy. It’s not one of the usual board games you would get in a market.
- My Safari Animals – Make your own animal safari with these unique cut-outs of animals that the children can also paint or colour. So with the cut-outs, you could make your own animal figures and play around with it. It comes with a messy mat and a box of colours that can be used to paint the animals.
- Binoculars – Get ready to explore the imaginary jungle with this snazzy binocular! The kids took turns to wear these and watch the different birds around our house.
- Animal Kingdom – Jigsaws have always interested me. In this activity, you get the jigsaw together and match the animals on the tentcards with the places in the jigsaw. Fun, interesting and a learning for the boys. And some interesting facts about the animals too!
- Flinto & Friends Camping Adventure – One of my boys is an avid reader and this was the first thing he pulled out of the box and settled to read the book.
5 things I loved about Flintobox
1. Kid friendly
Materials that have been used for creating the activities are kid-friendly. No sharp edges at all! I loved the including of a messy mat that was a boon for me. No mopping and cleaning the floor after the activities.
2. Cures the TV addiction
Even if it was for 3 days, I must admit that my boys did take a break from television for at least 3-4 hours in a day. With the summer vacation and the scorching heat, they were made to stay indoors and apart from the usual playing, TV was their only way to chase the boredom away. Flintobox came as a rescue for their boredom!
3. Actionable
Loved the one with the animal cut outs where the kids had to spend time painting and getting the figurines ready. My boys are not the artistic types, but they love animals! So this activity was something they loved.
4. Enhancing Knowledge
Each month, the box has a different theme that helps the children learn more about different things. This is a very important factor for me as it allows my boys to know more about different things.
5. Uniqueness
Not just the activities, but each of the boxes are unique as well. Each of the activities have been designed keeping in mind the needs of the particular age level. Not just that, the activities also mention the skill sets that a child can develop with the activities.

#TipsToTakeKidsOffTV
Being a mom of small kids I know how difficult it is to take them off from TV specially during holidays when they have lots of free time .
The things which I do to take them off form TV are :
1.I engage them in lots of activity like drawing , colouring painting . I bring lots of activity books so that they can spend time in doing creative activities .
2. I bring lots of story books and novels so to improve their reading skill and language . Like I regularly but Tinkle , Chanda Mama , Short story books , Bed time story books , The Secret Seven Series . Malgudi days etc .
This is best way to keep them engage .
3. I have brought few indoor games like carom which they love to play .
4.In the evening I take them to park near by where they play cricket and badminton , sometimes I also play badminton with them to make them happy .
5.During weekends I take them to some amusement parks here in Hyderabad , where they enjoy various types of rides and get happy .
6 . My eldest daughter who is in STD V now is very creative , so I teach her some creative works like making storage boxes , toys , hand made cards from things available at home , this way she makes lots of stuff and feels happy that she is creative and shows off those stuffs to her friends proudly that she has made it . She also makes jewellery like necklaces and bracelets from artificial pearls and beads .
So this way I try my best to keep my kids away from TV as much as possible and allow them to watch cartoon only for limited time and not always .

sometime we play resturant resturant …grocery shopkeeper and where m a customer she is a attendant in order to teach her new sentences.
sometime I engaged her in organising her room her toys.
Daily I go to park with her as outdoor activity is essential for physical growth and one hour we spend on cycling thats how I try to keep her away from TV partialy there are many learning activities aired on TV so I encourage her to watch such shows for 30 min to 1 hour.

Well, I guess we went a bit far and discontinued our cable connection. No one at home watched tv for nearly 18 months. During those days my child was forced to find other things of interest. She learned how to cycle on her own. Lately she has learned to swim on her own.
She began reading, and can finish a novella in barely two days. She began doodling and creating best out of waste projects. Life was much simpler, as we spoke to each other a whole lot.

Thanks mam for giving us a chance to share our opinion and thought here. M in a joint family and my three year old daughter love to watch cartoon shows with her cousins and in her play school also they use projector for teaching. I cannot scold her all the time not to watch TV that too in summer holidays so I incorporate her in other activities like craft with waste stuff like one week back we made Crow from paper plate and puppet from old socks we do these activities together and she learnt lot of things,
I used to play identification game With her hide household stuffs and asked her to find out rolling pin or bowl in order to teach her new word.
I involved her in cycling, yoga and dance activities
Daily in evening we go for a walk so that she will not watch Televidion.
Colorful book also keep her away from TV

I wake up my baby sister early in the morning around 6 am and take her for a morning walk in the park.. first she has to do walk of 800 meter track and later she gets chance to play on the swings..
After coming back other things to engage her to develop her interest in personal hygiene .. she has to clean her body using homemade ubtans and she really enjoys that..
Later she learns how to keep her room and belongings clean and tidy.
In evening its time for evening walk with h pet dog and later its time for 1 hour aerobic session that keeps her body fit.
At night she helps her mum in her kitchen work. preparing the dining area, keeping the normal temp. things like salad, fruits, utensils but not hot food items..

As a mom I always keep my son busy with activities like by giving him colouring sheets of his favourite cartoon characters. Which he enjoys a lot & does not miss watching T.V at all. I also tell him stories which keeps him engaged enthusiastically. We also play board games like scrabble which helps him develop his brains & thinking power. We also play fun games like ludo & snakes & ladder. Last but not the least I ask him to keep his room clean by making it a fun activity by singing songs & rhymes. In the evenings I take my son for cycling or swimming as he enjoys it a lot. As a Montessori teacher myself I follow similar guidelines in school too to keep my students busy. Would love to win Flintobox for my son.

Hi All,
This is not at all worth what you pay for. You can get all the items for less than INR200 of each box in your local stationary/fancy shops. My son is happy about the Carton box and not the items!! If you are least bothered about money, then you can subscribe for this.
The real fun starts with their delivery, it’s completely unprofessional. They are partnered with FedEx, where you can track the shipment. It keeps on changes the “Schedule Delivery” and no commitment and no one takes responsibility. The Flinto team never responds to your mails. In case you call them and escalate the issue, you would get prompt reply that “If it’s Chennai, they can track other wise we are helpless”. Please think twice if are residing out side Chennai before subscribing. As this is online sales, Flinto team is least bothered about the Customer’s concerns.
p.s:This is for Flinto Team: my order number is 956006, hope that you knew the background of this message.
