So this was one of the full sized products that everyone who subscribed to the Vellvette box got in the Feb box. Yes, I know half the bloggers went over the moon with this, but it was not much of a happening product for me. I totally love the packaging of the balm. It comes in a cute tin box that is absolutely reusable material. What I am referring to is the Figs & Rouge Aloe Mint Lip Balm. The sneak preview did give away the product and I was actually looking forward to having it as a part of my Feb Vellvette box.
When I received it I was delighted. I loved the look of the balm tin which was very vintage. My happiness was a bit short lived as it took quite a battle to just pull of the lid of the balm. I have been using balms packed in tin like the ones Omved sells, but this one was absolutely snap shut.
I love mint. But the fragrance of this balm is slightly over powering. It smells like Mentos, the mint pop. The fragrance is quite intense for a few seconds post the application and then it wears off, which is a good thing. The other issue is that the effect of the balm does not last really long. At least I have had to reapply it as frequently as every two hours which is a pain.
The texture ( as one of the bloggers I interact with KofyKat pointed out ) is squishy. It is too soft to the touch, unlike the normal texture of a lip balm. Just take a bit of the lip balm on your finger and it melts really quickly making it quite easy to apply. The flip side, the balm melts too fast!
A warning: The summer has started. This balm melts. Really fast! So please store it in a cool place. Not advisable to dunk it in your purse!
Price and Shelf Life
This 17 ml tin of lip balm is priced at INR 695 and has a shelf life of one year. What is upsetting is that the date of manufacture is not mentioned anywhere on the tin, so I have no clue about the expected expiry date this balm can have. And this is also one of the reasons why I am a bit apprehensive to use it on the lips.
Where can I buy this?
Currently I do know that it available on the Vellvette site. Click here to buy. If anyone knows where else this can be bought in India, please let me know, so that I can update the list.
Will I recommend it?
Ummm, no. I am happy with my Omved and Rustic Art lip balms. I shall stick on to those because I find them more suitable to the Indian seasons. This one does not figure in my list of rebuys at all.
