It has been a while since this product has been doing the rounds. Since I love a head massage, I was quite keen to try the Dove Elixir Oil. I could not locate this easily and since all the oils had a floral fragrance, I was keen to find it locally and smell it before I zeroed in to what I was keen to buy. I finally found this in one of stores I frequent. I picked up the Rose and Almond Oil which is supposed to control hair fall.
I oil my hair at least thrice a week and till now I have been using the Organic Hair Oil by Rustic Art which is simply amazing, but I was keen to try a different oil. The dispenser is not very user friendly because if your hands are oily, it tends to slip. And the oil kind of squirts in different directions that can make it a bit messy. Oils should typically have the flip cap so that pouring out oil is an easier task.
What I like about this oil is that it is really light. It absorbs fast and is not very greasy. This oil has real rose petals that are supposed to retain the fragrance, but the whole look and feel transported me to the Bio lab of my school, so no I am not entirely thrilled with the dried floating petals.
One major drawback this oil has is the packaging. Yes it is different, but why on earth would you package a hair oil in a glass bottle with a perfume nozzle pump? If it slips out of the oily hands and crashes on the floor it is bound to shatter. If it had a screw cap lid that would have been more user friendly.
This 90 ml of oil is priced at INR 185 and has a shelf life of 2 years.
Where can I buy this?
The only two places that I have seen this online is Flipkart and Purplle. You can check your local chemist too, because it is available in most local chemist shops.
How do I use this?
Pump out as much as you want and massage gently from root to tips. The bottle mentions that leaving the oil for 30 minutes is as good as keeping it overnight. No matter what the instructions say, I like to keep the oil overnight!
Will I recommend this?
As with everything else, you need to have patience. Don’t expect results on your first application. When I used it the initial 3-4 times, I faced a lot of hair fall and I did not pay much attention since I was moving away from a routine that I had been following for 6-8 months. Post the time frame, my hair fall is lesser by a meager percentage. I have not used this as a serum, but mostly as an oil. If you don’t like floral fragrances, stay away from it.
Dove Elixir is a luxurious blend of precious oils. Infused with real ingredients, it nourishes your hair, from root to tip.

This really worked for me…… for me it smells like those floral powders you get in supermarkets.

I’ve been using it for a while and I have not noticed a visible difference as yet.
