I’ve always had pigmentation and blemishes, but post-pregnancy, these just increased. Quite often, I’d be seen with skin that wasn’t really worth describing. Of course erratic sleep hours, taking care of my twins and a diet that was not really great took its toll on me and it showed on my face. I browsed the web, saw solutions, and tried a few which worked for me. However, I need to add here that no matter what you do if you do not have a healthy lifestyle, it shows on you. My take on this: De-stress & Be Happy. Now here are some masks that you can try at home
1. Almond, honey and lime
Soak about 4-5 almonds overnight in water. Peel them in the morning and grind it to a paste ( the consistency of a fine scrub) and add 1/2 tsp of honey and 6-7 drops of lime juice. Mix well and apply to the face and neck. Leave it on for about 20- 25 minutes. When you are
washing it, dampen the mask a bit and rub it around the face and neck in circular motions to let it act like a scrub. Rinse well with tepid water. The almonds will moisturize the skin and the lemon acts like a bleaching agent.
2. All about potatoes!
- Apply grated potatoes on your face and neck and leave it for about 30 minutes. Regular usage fades away the blemishes and dark spots.
- Juice of grated potatoes mixed with a few drops of lemon juice with also help fade the blemishes.
- Potato slices kept on the eyes can also help you reduce the dark circles.
3. Lemon, Rose and Honey
Take equal portions of lemon juice, rose water and honey. Apply this regularly on the face and neck for about 5-10 minutes to lighten the blemishes. You can make a face mask out of this by adding one teaspoon of gram flour, a pinch of turmeric and one teaspoon of yogurt in it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
A friend of mine regularly applies about a tbsp of honey mixes with a pinch of turmeric just on the blemishes to lighten them. I am more inclined towards face masks as it tends to nourish the entire face and neck area. Also, drink lots of water to keep yourself detoxified. Adequate water nourishes your skin.
Other products that I found equally effective was the All Purpose Ubtan from Omved. I have reviewed it here. I am not sure if its shipped abroad, but they do have an online presence and also have their stores in India.
