I was browsing the net last month in search of some good masks and scrubs that I could make at home and I found loads of them! Here are some that I tried out, some worked for me and some did not. These are simple and easy to make scrubs that really do not involve too much of work. So, here we go!
1. Oatmeal Scrub
This scrub will soothe, tone and also hydrate your skin.
What you need
1 Tbsp. ground oatmeal ( I put the oats in a mixer for about 6 seconds to grind it)
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. yogurt
Combine the ingredients to make a paste. Apply on your face and scrub in circular motions.
Tip: If you want to use this as a mask, apply it on your face and leave it on for about 5 minutes, then wet your fingers and dab the mask till it is moist and start scrubbing in circular motions to exfoliate.
2. Foot Scrub with gramflour
2 Tbsp gram flour ( besan)
1 tsp sugar
juice of a lime
Enough yogurt to make a paste with the ingredients mentioned above.
Make a paste of all these ingredients and use it as a foot scrub. It worked really well for me. The lemon helps take out the tan and the sugar exfoliates the dead skin.
I made the paste less runny because I wanted to massage my feet in the process of scrubbing it. Please follow this up with a foot cream.
3. Milk, Almond and Honey Scrub
1 tsp Skimmed/Low fat Milk (if you have oily skin)
1 tsp normal Milk (if you have normal skin)
1 tsp Cream (if you have dry skin)
Now that you have chosen the ingredient according to your skin type, mix it with 1 tsp of honey and 1 tbsp of ground almonds.
Apply on your face and scrub in circular motions.
Tip: If you want to use this as a mask, apply it on your face and leave it on for about 5 minutes, then wet your fingers and dab the mask till it is moist and start scrubbing in circular motions to exfoliate.
4. The Orange Peel Mask
You get orange peel powder in the market, alternatively you can also dry the orange peels at home and make a fine powder of it. Mix 1 tsp of orange powder with milk to make it into a paste. I used about 2.5 tbsps. Apply on your face. You can add honey and reduce the quantity of milk as a variation. This is good to hydrate and keep your skin moisturised.
This scrub can be used for people with all types of skin, just make a note of the skin type in the brackets.
5. Banana and Yogurt Mask
Mash half a banana with about 2-3 tbsp of whipped yogurt. Blend well and apply on your face. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes. Wash with warm water. If you have dry skin, this one will moisturize your skin really well.

Nice tips. I am going to try the banana and yogurt mask and also the oat mask. Can you also use honey in the other masks/scrubs as well?
Prats says
Yes you can. Honey conditions the skin. Just use it in proper proportions though 🙂

Vani,
I have pigmentation too and you can use the milk almond and honey mask. Don’t use it more than twice a week. I also use a skin polish by Auravedic, which I will be reviewing shortly, the Amla – Tamarind skin polish by Auravedic.
I do not use much of a moisturiser because these polishes and packs keep the skin hydrated too.

Hi, just discovered your blog and am enjoying reading your reviews of the natural skincare products you’ve used. Can you tell me where you source your orange peel powder from? I have unsuccessfully tried making it at home.
Prats says
Renuca,
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! You would get orange beauty powder at any beauty store. I make mine at home and it lasts for a long time! I dry the peels in the sun and I grind it in a mixer. Coarse or fine, depending on how I want to use it.
