Ever since I began to believe in the goodness of green living, I have been introduced to various brands through my readers, friends and my searches! When you find people who strongly advocate the same thoughts you share, it is but natural for you to take notice of the brand and learn more. When I came across BioBloom, I was keen to know more and casual exchanges on mails led to the latest post in the Brand Focus series.
When you seek a good living, you are led to good things!
I have always believed in this mantra because I believe that what you seek is what you get. And not to forget I also get to introduce you all to the awesome brands I get to know!
An interview with BioBloom
Pragati and Rohit, the founders of BioBloom are Engineers by profession and the quest to spread the goodness of organic and green living made them start BioBloom. The conceptualization to get the brand BioBloom in place started in 2013, and they began the operations in Feb 2014. BioBloom has its presence in a few e-retail stores, the major ones being Jabong and Snapdeal. Here they are sharing their thoughts and ideas in the latest post on Brand Focus Series.
What aspired you to start the brand BioBloom?
BB: During a very close and extended experience with modern medicine a few years ago, we realized that medicine and everything else modern, no matter how good in the short-term,comes with its own disadvantages. Moreover, with our modern lifestyles we also need medicine sooner & more often. Blame it on the food we eat, the products we use or the amenities that are a part of our lifestyle today. And too add to this, the carbon foot print we leave behind is alarming!
It was during this phase that we started to shift to a natural way of life, first in thought and slowly in action. The journey has just about started though!
How organic are the products that you sell?
BB: Today we are a ‘Natural Products’ company where all our products are free from all obvious harmful chemicals like parabens, sulphates (SLS/ SLES). Further, whatever chemicals we use are used in harmless/ permissible quantities. Most of our products use more than 95% natural ingredients and less than 5% synthetic ingredients.
We ensure that we do nor use any artificial colors & fragrances in our products. So you will find the products smell very natural. We come close to Organic products but are only different from them since our ingredients & processes are not certified by any accredited body. Having said that, we are working in parallel to have our certifications in place so that we can proudly call ourselves Organic. We are absolutely vegan and do not indulge in animal testing.
We are also 100% transparent about the ingredients list on our products. Everything that we use in the label t! We list everything on our label. That’s the least we must do to mean what we say.
Over the recent years, there has been a shift to green living. Is it here to stay? How do your products fit in with people who believe in the concept?
Green Living and the concept of natural lifestyle has been around forever especially in India because of our rich culture and heritage. We’ve begun to become hostage to our daily struggles of life and wrapped up in stress that living a substantial life has gone on the back burner.
Having said that, there are a sizeable chunk of the population that is moving to conscious living and green living, slowly and steadily. It’s definitely here to stay as it is a necessity to say the least not just for our bodies but for the environment as a whole.
Today more and more people are looking for natural products but either can’t find them or can’t reach them. We like to bring them the best that nature has to offer, conveniently formulated and packed, right at their doorstep by being online. We like to bring a positive, deserving change to their busy lives with the least amount of effort on their part.
We also aspire to make more and more people aware of the ‘Natural way of Life’ contribute to the society & the environment in our own little way!

How do you fit in the whole concept of organic products with your brand as well? What are the measures you adopt to ensure you are not leaving a carbon footprint?
BB: First and foremost we avoid non-biodegradable chemicals in the products of Biobloom so that our product itself does not leave a carbon footprint. We also use recycled paper for our packing boxes as far as possible. Our next step is to get an organic certification, which would mean that all our agricultural and manufacturing processes will leave no carbon footprint either.
Organic make up is the next boom in the market. Would you be planning to venture into the same soon?
BB: We have some plans set up for BioBloom and we are planning to foray into Organic Food first. Why we want to do is because including this category means more effort & less return for us but we reach out to a bigger section of the society and not a specific age group or gender.
We’ve never thought about moving into organic make-up, but you have given us some interesting food for thought!
On Customizing Products
Our ideology is based on ‘Prevention is better than cure’. While most of our products follow the ideology, we also have specific products that target specific ailments – dark circles, hyper-pigmentation, dandruff & hair fall.
To treat specific conditions we will have to enter the specialized domain of Ayurveda or Medicine that we are not equipped for today. More often than not, specific skin or hair conditions are just symptoms and they should be treated by a doctor.
How do you reach out to customers with your range of products? Is there a marketing strategy you follow?
BB: We have all the standard online marketing initiatives in place so that we are visible to people who are looking for us. We are also available on various online e-retail stores like Snapdeal, Jabong etc. so that we are available to as many people as possible.
But for us ‘use it to believe it’ and ‘word of mouth’ work best. So we have miniatures bundled as sets, which people can buy and try to come back for more and tell or gift to their loved ones too.
We are considering going into channel sales but are very careful in selecting our partners. Only people who believe in Natural Life will have the right clientele and be able to do justice to the products.
Coupon code valid till 6th July 2014.

Products with fewer chemicals are the need of the hour! There is an overdose of ads with all kinds of jargon to describe a product’s special qualities – all stemming from adding more chemicals. Bio Bloom sounds like a good option!
