A body butter is essentially a combination of pure oils and butters in a more concentrated form than a moisturiser. Searching for the best body butters can be a task. Most of the body butters available in the market can be laden with chemicals. So how do you choose the best body butters for winter?
A body butter is thicker and heavier in comparison to a moisturiser when you It feels heavy when you apply it but gradually gets absorbed into your skin. Body Butters are much richer in comparison to a standard moisturiser.
Since your skin needs more moisture during the winter and drier seasons, a body butter is a better option to choose because it keeps your skin hydrated for a longer time. Perfect to use on those extra dry areas like your feet and elbows. So here is my list of the best body butters for winter.
5 best body butters for winter
Since your skin needs more moisture during the winter and drier seasons, a body butter is a better option to choose because it keeps your skin hydrated for a longer time. Perfect to use on those extra dry areas like your feet and elbows. So here is my list of the best body butters for winter.
Rose body butter by The Nature’s Co.
From the past six years, a body butter from The Nature’s Co makes its way into my daily skin care regime in the winter. This time I picked the rose variant. I love the fragrance of rose honestly. There is something that is very heady about it and the fragrance is not overpowering at all. Plus you really need just a dab of the body butter to hydrate and nourish your skin completely. The product is 100% vegan, paraben and chemical free. If you have a combination skin this body butter can keep your skin moisturised for almost 6-8 hours. Since my skin tends to get dry in the winter, I need to reapply this at least 2-3 times a day. Priced at INR 1395, this 200 ml tub of Rose body butter can bought on Amazon.
I have used quite a few of the variants of the body butters from TNC which include Mango, Nori, Mixed Berries and Passion Fruit.
Lavender body butter by Skin Sense Natural
I have a weakness for lavender. One whiff of it is enough to make me go all calm and relaxed. This body butter melts almost as soon as you scoop it out of the jar. In the hand-written note that Rashmi, the founder of the brand sent to me mentioned that it works best when applied on freshly washed skin, works better on damp skin. I love slightly hot showers in the winters and trust me when you do apply this on damp skin it gets absorbed almost as quickly as it is applies. Leaves you with a softer and hydrated skin for at least 8 hours. It is safe to use for children and even those with sensitive and problematic skin. You can buy this here.
As this contains no preservatives, use a clean spoon to take out the contents and never put fingers directly into the tub. Use a small wooden spoon if you can and avoid a plastic spoon.
Unscented Mango Butter by Juicy Chemistry
This body butter is a hit with my boys who are 8. You know why? Because it is fragrance free. Yes, boys will be boys! This product is from the baby range of Juicy Chemistry. If you’re looking for a baby smell with this body butter, then my tip to you is don’t buy it. This wonderful product, as I said is fragrance free which is really good for kids.The nourishing body butter is packed with the oils of almond, olive, virgin coconut, jojoba and vitamin E. Add to this a wonderful mix of shea, cocoa and mango butter, what you get is soft and nourished skin for hours together. I’d vote this as a mommy and kids product. If you have sensitive skin, then this one is a must buy. You can buy this from Amazon here. While its available in two sizes, try the smaller size first which is priced at INR 150 for 15 gms.

Making your own body butter {Bonus}
If you are looking for a DIY recipe, then you must look up one of these old posts I wrote on the blog. I used to make my own body butter but honestly, my hectic schedule really keeps me away from experimenting something that is complicated nowadays. Plus I don’t have all the ingredients either to make this body butter instantly. The good part about making your won body butter is that you can choose to experiment with various fragrances; make smaller batches and have a variety to choose from!
Body butters are a good option to choose especially in the winters. Even though they are slightly thicker in comparison to a normal body lotion, these get absorbed well and keep your skin hydrated and nourished for a longer time in the colder and drier seasons. So which body butter are you going to buy this winter?
