5 Benefits of a body detox {Health}

Doing a detox is like hitting a reset button for your body. You have no idea of how its going to change your life for the better when you actually do a detox for yourself. The benefits of a body detox can range from cleansing not just your body, but cleansing at a deeper level – including  your spiritual and emotional aspects of life. So what else can you expect from a regular detox program?

1. Enhanced energy levels

Yes, one of the benefits of a body detox is that it helps to boost the energy levels.  When you do a detox program. you end up feeling more energetic because you are stopping the consumption of unhealthy things. You are cutting down or reducing the intake of sugar, caffeine  and fatty foods and replacing it with healthier options like fresh fruits and vegetables. Along with this a regular intake of adequate water will also keep you hydrated and your energy levels high.

2. Helps you to lose weight

Don’t indulge in a detox to just lose weight, make it a habit to eat healthy so that losing weight is a natural and ongoing process for you. When you detox, you make a change in your eating habits and ensure a regular intake of healthy food that works for you. Healthier eating habits = healthier you! Don’t be waylaid by advertisements that promise weight reduction in days and weeks, short term results won’t help you in the long run!

3. Improved Skin

When I eat healthy, it shows on my skin. My hyperpigmentation and the freckles are lighter and I can see my skin glow. As soon as I replace the regular consumption of green smoothies, coconut water and green tea with umpteen cups of coffee (yep, that is pretty much my poison when I am stressed), it shows on my skin. I look pale, sick and the freckles turn up darker than before. Let me put it this way, detoxing is a good way to welcome clearer and smoother skin.

4. Improved concentration levels

When you detox, you are paying attention to the needs of your body. Try to combine meditation as a part of your regular routine. Meditation is known to help you get in touch with your needs and wants and communicate better with your mind and body. Since you are away from the caffeine, sugars and other unhealthy food, your mind is more alert and there is no fogginess and lethargy that is commonly associated with these foods.

5. A better sense of well-being

When you do good things, start to feel good about yourself, good things will automatically happen to  you! With a sense of  well-being you feel improvement in all the spheres of life. You see better productivity in your work because of the higher energy levels and a better relationship with friends and family because you feel good and think positive! A detox is more than just losing weight. It allows you to feel good about yourself and your body. What more would you need than a renewed zest for your life?

Word of caution –  There are lots of detox programs available on the internet that can allow one to choose a plan. What is more important is that you get a detox plan created by your doctor so that any ailments or allergies can be taken into account and the plan can be created accordingly. There are lots of benefits of a body detox and it is important that you keep in mind that a detox will help you more than lose just weight!
