I got to know about GreennGood quite a few months ago and the first time I visited the website, it was just in the infancy stage and I did not sign up with them. But on a recent visit, I was quite pleased to see the array of products they had online and the go-green person that I am, who prefers shopping online went ahead a splurged a bit.
The story so far
Aparna Bhatnagar, the brains behind GreennGood has an interesting story to tell about the conceptualization of the e-retail store. The store was created to ensure that the traditional knowledge was not lost and people could get acquainted with ways for a healthier and a greener living, thus creating lesser impact on the environment.
“During my career I started looking for safer and better products and really didn’t find many options..the choice was little and what was available was really expensive! That’s when I decided to start a webstore where people could find these products. In 2009 I quit my job and started GreenNGood.com (then called GreenAndGoodStore.com)” – Aparna B
“Most of the packaging that comes into our business is reused and we throw out very little, thus making sure we don’t add to waste.” – Aparna B
Totally agree! The products did not come in cute boxes that I could stock other stuff in, creating more clutter at home. ( I don’t say that, my better-half does). Sensible packaging ensures that the goods are not damaged in transit.
What brands do they have?
“Today even though we work with over 70 partners we are very selective about what we board. We assess the entire lifecycle of the product from its ingredients to usage to packaging and disposal.” – Aparna B
They do have some of my favourite brands like Omved, Soul Tree, Rustic Art, IHA vedic, Auravedia, Organic India to name a few. They have everything from clothing, to healthy snacking options, to arts and crafts, decor, office stationery, books that help you get more aware about the environmental hazards around you and the grooming products.
“In November 2012, we also became India’s first (and only) Online Retail Store that has a comprehensive sustainability certification called The Green Signal. We achieved 4 bars for GHG emissions declaration, excellence in waste management and excellence in energy conservation.” – Aparna B
When you shop with them, they have this little tab called the Green-o-meter which tells you how organic the product is. This helps customers make an informed choice, which is something I really liked. The list of ingredients is comprehensive and you don’t really see anything missing! I have bought not-so-green products because of an incomplete ingredient list on reputed websites.
Ease of Navigation
A very easy to navigate site. The listing is simple and you can’t really go wrong about what you want to buy. I personally preferred to shop by the Brands, because I was looking for specific products.
Most of my questions were answered in time and they ensure that the customer is aware of the consignment status. They send out personalised mails informing customers that the delivery has been shipped with a name for the person who sends out a mail. It is a relief from the boring automated mails that you see in your inbox.
Will I recommend them?
Absolutely yes. The more stores you have that acquaint you with the goodness of green living makes you a more responsible and conscious person towards the environment. You get to do your bit and feel good about those small steps you take towards a conscious living. Which also means that I will certainly buy from them again.
Was the delivery on time?
I got my consignment in 5 business days, I would have got it in 4 business days, but I was not at home when the first delivery attempt was made, so I had to wait till Monday.
Follow them on Facebook to know about the latest offers they have in store for you!
What I bought from them deserves another post with some reviews. What I have for you is a coupon code that you can check in the Contests and Coupons Page.
Note: I was given a discount coupon for buying products from GreennGood, but that has not affected my review.
The boys, coffee, books, music and ME TIME are my modes of relaxation!
